10 Years International German Piano Award - Thank you!

Liebe Freunde,

---------------------------------------------------------------

Dear friends,

It has been a bit quiet around the International German Piano Award.
We, the International Piano Forum Frankfurt, were intensively busy looking for ways and solutions to make the Piano Competition still take place this year, despite all circumstances and difficulties.

Orchestra members, conductors and pianists with masks on stage? Without an audience? We all know only too well that cultural events and institutions have suffered immensely from this pandemic. We also know that the perspective will not be rosy for a long time.

But today we would like to thank our jurors, the nominated pianists, our partners and all those who have supported our work during this year!
For this purpose, we have put together a trailer that briefly reviews of 10 years International German Piano Award.

We hope you enjoy watching it!

Due to the current global crisis, our everyday life is characterized by uncertainty and worries. Within a very short time a microscopic virus has managed to turn our world upside down economically and socially. As a result, digital profiling has become more important than ever. This rapid development does not even stop at the classical music world.

In these difficult times, the winners and nominees of the International German Piano Award in recent years need special support. The International Piano Forum Frankfurt has decided to make a contribution in this rapidly growing digital concert world.

Therefore, together with our partner C. Bechstein, we have, for the first time, created such a concert format with the use of professional technology.

By joining us, you would be a great supporter for the establishment of our project. I would also be very pleased to receive your comments, suggestions and musical criticism.

Until April 17 I remain with my best wishes,

Maryam Maleki

Tonight, we actually had planned to enjoy all together the gala concert and the awarding of the winner of the 10th International German Piano Award 2020 in the Alte Opfer Frankfurt.

But right now, our focus should be on ensuring, that we all together master the current global situation. The most important thing now is that we all stay healthy.

At the same time, I do my best to keep an optimistic view into the future. Therefore, I am happy to announce the new dates after the cancellation of this year’s competition in March: In hopefully nine months, at Christmas time, on December 13, 14, and 15 in a healthy and peaceful world. I wish us all health and good luck! Your, International Piano Forum Frankfurt

Concert recommendation in a beautiful city, with a great pianist and one of the most beautiful piano concertos!

Friday March 6st with Hans H. Suh, winner of the International German Piano Award 2018 in Baden-Baden, will perform Beethoven Piano Concerto No. 3 in the Weinbrennersaal with the Baden-Baden Philharmonic Orchestra.

In 2018 Hans H. Suh won the International German Piano Prize and joined the IPF-MASTERS Management of the International Piano Forum Frankfurt shortly afterwards. His prize winner CD production was described by Remy Fanck of Pizzicato as follows:

Hans H. Suh’s debut CD features a masterly, youthfully fresh and at the same time intelligently controlled interpretation of Beethoven’s Bagatelles op. 126, a finely nuanced, very eloquent Liszt sonata, which Suh plays with gripping momentum, powerful in urge and expressiveness, not in volume. Suh is not a pianist who wants to win over his audience with loud hammering or with the contrast of very quiet and very loud, but has a very good dynamic control. The pianist effortlessly switches to Debussy, whose impressions he creates in a very narrative way, and then finds his way back to romanticism and its specific colours just as easily. – Remy Franck, Pizzicato
