The team of COLOGNE FINE ART & DESIGN wishes you a Merry Christmas and best wishes for the New Year!

What is your most favourite Christmas dish?

This large still life with fruits, vegetables and a pheasant on a plinth was painted in Paris by Georgius Jacobus Johannes van Os in 1836-1837. It is known that the artist sold two paintings of considerable size – a still life dedicated to hunting and a still life with fruits – to King Willem II of the Netherlands in 1837. One painting ended up in the Pescatore Collection in 1850, and is dated 1836-37. This collection was subsequently donated to the city of Luxemburg. The present painting is part of the collection of Kollenburg Antiquairs.

Gehrard Richter (1932) is featured at COLOGNE FINE ART & DESIGN this week!

This offset lithograph is hand signed and dated by the master "Richter XI.67" in pencil at the lower right corner. The work depicts two sheets above each other, a trompe l’oeil. The lithograph was published by Galerie h in Hanover in 1967 in an edition of 739 impressions, each signed and dated by the artist. It is based on a photograph of the 1965 oil painting ‘Umgeschlagenes Blatt/ Turned Sheet’ which can be found in the Catalogue Raisonne of Richter’s paintings with the number 70-11.

Slide 2: Richter produced these very elaborate optical illusions in 1969. He constructed the nine three-dimensional objects himself and photographed them in everyday environments. Then he had the photographs professionally retouched so that the constructions appeared spatially impossible. He then re-photographed the reworked images and printed them using offset technique.

Find these litographs with the Gilden’s Arts Gallery (@gildensartgallery) at COLOGNE FINE ART & DESIGN, now in its final hours. Or browse our online catalogue at https://www.colognefineart.com! #link in bio

Kunstmarkt.com reports on the Best Stand Award of COLOGNE FINE ART & DESIGN 2021: the joint presentation of Jean-David Cahn and Dierk Dierking - Galerie am Paradeplatz.

The joint presentation of the two Swiss art dealers shows a selection of antique works in dialogue with the contemporary artist Otto Boll (*1952). For the jury, the extremely finely staged contrast between the figures of antiquity and Boll's graphic sculptures made of blackened metal unfolded their very own charm. Boll himself selected the pieces from the Cahn Collection.

German sculptor Christiane Löhr (1965) takes her material from the natural world and uses it out of context to form new, authentic structures. From natural materials such as grasses, flowers, seeds and leaves, she creates incredibly light, fragile and at the same time radically minimal sculptures and thus creates artificial, narrative landscapes in space. The former master student of Jannis Kounellis has regularly received awards and prizes for her work.

This is the last day (November, 21st) that you can visit COLOGNE FINE ART & DESIGN where the work of Christiane Löhr is exhibited by Dierking. The gallery beautifully juxtaposes and combines art from Africa, Oceania and Asia with Classical Modern and post-war works.

With your ticket you can also visit the parallel ART COLOGNE.
