Many years ago she awoke floating atop a sea of people. They stood beneath her and guided her body with their hands. None of them were clothed. When she looked out to see where the ocean of bodies might end, she could see only the tops of heads far into the horizon. She panicked and tried to stand and run across them, but she immediately lost her balance. When she tried to pull herself forward, as if swimming, the people below flipped her onto her back. Paralyzed by fear, she allowed herself to float for a while, letting the hands carry her where they wanted. But soon bodies began to rise from the crowd, and she was no longer the only one lost at sea. She rejoiced, and the hands directed her closer to the new castaways, whom she embraced. And when she did she felt herself grow slick and it was the natural thing to pull them inside her, or to insert herself inside them. As she did, more bodies rose to join them and the hands beneath pushed them faster and faster. And soon she could not tell herself from others. It was as if her tongue was many, her hands ever multiplying, a hot, pulsating, oppressive and sweet sensation flooding her senses until it all blended into skin: an endless, rolling wall, wet like the inside of a cheek in some places but covered in papules and moles and hair in others. She could not say how long she persisted in this state, whether weeks or decades. But after a time, perception itself started to give way. As her vision was about to give way to nothing but blinding white heat, she hit the ground hard.

Dear friends, dear colleagues,

I am very pleased to invite you to the exhibition „if we opened people up, we'd find landscapes“ at Artrmx.ev in Cologne.
It was an important concern for me as curator to bring together three very strong young artistic positions that all three deal in different ways with how and where we move in our lived reality.
As video and performance artist Krzysztof Honowski formulated in his text „The sacred in a faulty printer“ about the exhibition:

„Some centuries ago, although not that many, the reality of an ordinary person was that of being in two places at once. The pre-industrial individual lived the reality of their life of work, as well as the reality of their belief in an active exchange with the divine. Here is an exhibition about how our lived reality has, in much the same way, crossed over with the digital. While they are not quite on a mystical quest, in the work of Collectif Grapain, Claus Georg Stabe, and Malte Taffner, we find a particular sensitivity for process. Brought together here are positions that contemplate what it takes to arrive somewhere in this world between the body and the machine, and what at times can go wrong along the way.“ Krzysztof Honowski

A big thank you for the wonderful posterdesign by jeanne triboul

We are very pleased if we can welcome you on the 2th of December in the Artrmx.ev Cologne at 6 pm.
If you can not make it that evening, the exhibition is open until the 18th from Wednesday to Saturday from 1 to 8 pm.

I wish you all a warm and above all a healthy winter.

At the time when Zhang Yimou has to recruit American A-listers to crush the extraterrestrial attackers on his Great wall of China, Guangli Liu continued measuring the balance of power between cultural empires on the contemporary art scene, from the French observatory where he
settled.
There is probably no situation more privileged than that of exile to appreciate finely the effects of domination in the cultural market.
And it is with these stories of exile that Guangli had
decided to crystallize the movements of acculturation that he observed.
Either the Crossing of the Red Sea, painted by Nicolas Poussin in Rome between 1633 and 1637: after having proposed a number of pertinent studies, Guangli imagined to represent this landscape extending behind the mountains of the background in animation 3D.
He finally accomplished an interactive work which
allows the spectator to move around and watch ad libitum in this invented landscape — thus exploring the out-field of a prestigious pseudo-site of the western territory.

“Images obsess me and I echo and respond to them, in sculpture, as a sculptor. These themes that mental images, physical memories, real experiences make me tackle, the poet Joseph Mouton calls them "poetic operators".The objects that surround me are steeped in history, inhabited by a form of memory. Most of the time I find them, pick them up, glean them but we can also say that they are the ones who find me.So I harvest them and then they surround me.I take it and add a "stratum" of history to it, moulding them, reproducing them in another material, changing their shape and condition with each print.I sculpt, assemble materials, shapes, materials, to answer, to find these "poetic operators".Writing, reading and listening have a very important place in my work, which I attach to biographical elements but also to stories that I invent or recover. Fictions in which my sculptures are integrated.I like to design as much as I like to manufacture.Make with metal, wood, silicone and plaster.Assemble with welds, sockets or screws. Create shapes in resin, wax tinted in the mass.I like to spend time in the workshop setting up a detailed work program, cutting out the tasks that lead to the creation of a sculpture and then making it brutally, in a gourmet way.I try to live each experience, everything I can do or see, like a sculpture, thinking of the object transformed into a shape that would best embody my feelings and memories. “
