Final Part 3/3:
1974 Amazing Spider-Man 129 the first appearance of the ! For many people the appropriate character for a Monday morning. Frank Castle is in my eyes the most bad ass character ever - with more John Wick vibes than John Wick himself 😂. Written in 1974 by Garry Conway, this character has been developed over the years and has become a complex character who in a tragic way can't or shouldn't actually be a hero but everyone can relate to and thus becomes an antihero. Frank Castle has already been portrayed by 4 different actors, who all have their merits and values of their time. I especially like the interpretation of in the Netflix production. Let's hope that in the future Disney will be more oriented towards the originals by Garth Ennis or similar and not try to make the Punisher suitable for children. Also, the skull design became timeless art and is often found within band artworks or brands. Also with me as a shirt motif on stage. Back to the magazine: in my collection it is currently the most valuable Raw magazine and shaft in this condition sometimes already the 1,000€ limit. As CGC 9.8 even up to 57.000$. Unfortunately, my copy probably has some restoration inside and therefore will not go to CGC. But it looks fantastic and therefore decorates the wall in the living room.

Part 2 of 3:
1991 Amazing Spider-Man 361 the first appearance of Carnage. Unfortunately, another character that screwed up on the big screen. But again, that doesn't detract from the character. As a kid, Carnage was the ultimate villain for me. A psycho killer so over the top and brutal that arch enemies Venom & Spider-Man had to team up to subdue this crazed foe. That approach alone I always thought was a cool storyline. In the character of Cletus Kasady is embodied by top actor Woody Harrelson, in the implementation and the story unfortunately not successful. Even the prison break looked better in Ultimate Spider-Man 1 than in the Hollywood version. Anyway... a cool statue that was a Christmas gift gift, placed on the shelf above the TV. Also, the issue was my first and so far only self-submitted issue, which got a top score of 9.8 from CGC. At peak, this book was worth 1.000€/$ but unfortunately dropped a lot.

Let's start a new three-part blog:
1979 Amazing Spider-Man 101 the first appearance of Michael Morbius. Yes I know the movie was disappointing, but that doesn't change the fact that the vampire always was a fascinating and complex character. Already in the 90ies I found the torn antihero very exciting. Always trying to do the right thing, at the same time suppressing a bloody compulsion and being complicatedly in love with the Black Cat. Not easy... 😂 The later crossovers to Blade were very cool as well. First enemies, then united in the cause of bringing down evil vampires. ComicsOnTour 3/3. So, today there is a little highlight for me: not the event (that was cool too) but this comic issue! It is not only the 100th anniversary edition of the original Amazing Spider-Man Vol. 1, this 1971 John Romita artwork graced the cover of the German Spider-Man Anthology - a German anthology that I spontaneously bought on my birthday a few years ago and rekindled the passion for this comic character from my childhood. Since then, it was clear that at some point the original must have in my collection. Last month it was then so far. Not quite cheap and over 3 corners I could pick up the book at the Fantastic Store Mannheim. It is the rare edition with National Diamonds insert. In 2018, the original art was sold for just under half a million dollars and was a world record at the time - a bargain from today's perspective. Story fact: this is where Spider-Man first gets the 6 arms, which is a seamless transition to the Morbius story. To be seen on a Soundcraft Vi5000 at Bruchsal Castle.

It's no secret: one of my favorite mini-series is definitely Secret Wars from 1984. I came across this series while reading Venom's Origin, and there's no getting around Secret Wars 8. The SW run was one of my first big sets where I paid just over 120€ for Vol. 1 & Vol. 2 - a joke considering what #8 alone costs today. I also have the story as HC and single issues in Newsstand or MJ Variant several times (specs and favourits). Rumor has it that the MCU will also end in Secret Wars in the next Grand Finale. On a side note, the series also features a couple of small 1st Appearances: Titania, Spider-Woman & Volcana.

With the mailcall about 2 weeks ago, the time had finally come and I was able to complete one of my favorite miniseries: Kravens last hunt! The story by Mike Zeck (who also created the Black Costume in SW8) spans 3 different series and 6 issues and is one of the darkest Spider-Man storylines out there. Release of part 1 was October 1987. I found the story already in the German anthology very exciting and now the original gets more attention again, the more about the Kraven film with Russell Crowe is known.

Sometimes collecting almost borders on irony. Amazing Spider-Man #194, July 1979, 1st appearance of the black cat. I hunted this issue for soo long. Not only because I always loved the character surrounding Felicia Hardy, but it's also a great cover by Keith Pollard. Most recently, this issue also found itself regularly on the Hotlist at Key Collector last year. Last summer, after a long search, I finally found a nice copy in the U.S., which could still be imported at an acceptable price. Happy a.f. 😁 As luck would have it, shortly thereafter I stumbled upon another copy at a local dealer, for significantly less money and in the same, if not minimally better condition. Strike! And as if 2 copies weren't enough, I was offered another copy in October. No photos, only a rough Info on condition: midgrade. A gamble but for small money. Why not? If its top bad, it still goes well for trade or sale. Then came my last and most beautiful copy and also as newsstand copy with Mark Jewelers. Definitely one of my highlights from 2021 and my entire collection. Sometimes you just need patience paired with luck. One is framed in my office now and maybe one of them goes to

and are on everyone's lips again since Mahershala Ali was confirmed for a remake or "new" Blade movie and there were allusions in the post-credit scene in Eternals. But ist was 1998, when Wesley Snipes, Kris Kristofferson and Stephen Dorff paved the way for today's comic blockbusters. The 1st appearance of Blade in Tomb of Dracula #10 increased about 1.000% from 2002 to 2019 from $1,450 to $15,000 and has a record sale of $45.000. Pretty hard to reach now... so we deal with a cheaper but still very cool 1st appearance: the villain Deacon Frost in Tomb of Dracula #45. First cameo in TOD #13 and first time in the storyline in this issue. Nice newsstand copy with old mark jewelers ad from 1976. Also in this issue, Hannibal King, who was later played by Ryan Reynolds.

And again on the way home. That was ComicCon Dortmund - Germany's biggest ComicCon, with lots to see and do, except for comics. The promoters definitely didn't have an easy time pulling off such an event in the current days. Cancellations, Regulations, uncertainty and a monster of constantly changing organizational factors. For us as a clique, it was a great and a cool trip, especially under these circumstances. I was happy to turn a few digital friendships into real ones. It was also cool to participate in a small panel discussion with Kim Coates & Mark Boone Jr. Only my comic collector's heart was a bit disappointed with the range of comic treasures (my wallet was relieved). If they would change the name to Funko-, Bluray- or Swordcon, it would probably be more fitting and honest.

Anyone who knows this profile knows that I'm totally in to Marvel. But there are also essential comic highlights beyond that: For me it's James Barr's "The Crow"! My first touch point was as a kid or early teen years, when I saw at a rest stop in Austria this big VHS box with this incredible cover. I was completely captivated by this touching, brutal and also righteous story about that Rock-Guitarist Eric Draven and his tragic fate. A few years ago I picked up the German first edition of Barr's Original Story. A dark and fascinating style all its own. Definitely a recommendation. The film in which actor Brandon Lee unfortunately died in an accident, celebrates its 27th birthday this month regarding its release...

Since I am also a big watch fan, I can hardly get past it. The first baby from the & collaboration was released yesterday. A beauty and a handmade piece of art. Certainly built from Vibranium from Wakanda 😉. Limited to 250 pieces.
For the list price, if you can get the watch at all for that price, the comic collector can also choose between an Amazing Fantasy 15 in 8.0, three times the Hulk 181 or 3.2 kg of Gold 😂
I hope they won't do a cool Spider-Man or Wolverine watch, I have to buy 🙈
