LAST DAYS TO SEE in BERLIN!

We wish ‘How Long is Now’ could last forever but it ends soon. You have only two days to see the show before it moves to Paris.

‘How Long is Now’ is an exhibition of the British photographer Gina Soden who is presented first time in Germany.

Gina Soden is an internationally up and coming London-based photographer devoted to portraying abandoned structures and the romantic beauty distilled in these scenes by the passage of time. She explores undisclosed sites through Europe to shed light on the boundaries between beauty and decay, nostalgia and neglect, past grandeur and modern realities.

There is a deep paradox lying within the essence of Gina Soden’s work. At first glance, the viewer might think her photographs depict the past: past dreams, past lives, past structures.

In fact, Gina’s photographs really talk about the present and our perception of passing time. In her new series of works, Gina Soden pushes the viewer into a profound reflection about the meaning of time, and our understanding of the present moment — of Now.

Visit exhibition ‘How Long is Now’ presenting works of a British photographer Gina Soden until October 11.

4 DAYs TO GO! Already next week we are going to present a new series of works 'How Long is Now' by British photographer Gina Soden in Berlin.

Hope to see you there!

Hello to my new followers!

I can't believe there's only 5 days to go until my new solo exhibition "How Long is Now" opens in Berlin. You may have seen my Instagram stories - I have been on the road with my husband up until last night and we've been exploring a wealth of abandoned buildings for the last 6 days. It's been absolutely brilliant and I've seen some incredible places including this place where my husband shot this great photo of me in my natural habitat.
I can't wait to tell you about some of the funny and interesting experiences I've had. I'll be there at the opening - so if you are in the area it would be great to meet you and show you my work in person.

Exhibition opening -
Thursday 1st October from 5pm
Auguststraße 35, Berlin-Mitte

Thank you to my art agency @artyqueagency for making this happen!
Thank you to @mikedeere for the photo.
Also a thank you to some anonymous friends for their reconnaissance info 😉👍🏼

“Adding product to your cart
I found this forgotten manor right in the center of a small french village of less than 150 people. The place was hidden behind tall iron gates and an overgrown garden. It was a treat to the eyes with decay everywhere, and so many antique items of furniture. A complete lack of historical information online meant I could not find out anything about the former residents, but what I did discover was a secret art studio room hidden away nearby this beautiful boudoir. I instantly felt connected to the mysterious artist who lived here some lives ago, following his or her steps as I was wandering between the room and the abandoned studio. For somewhere so central in town, I got in unseen fairly easily.” - Gina Soden

Following the portraying tradition from modern to contemporary painters, Silvia presents the unfixed beauty of real people without idolization, without any pretence of perfection, in their happiness and sorrow.

One special feature of her latest works: only the uncovered skin of the subjects is visible, all clothes are covered by the background, or is it the background covered by the clothes?

Whichever way you go, this technique, while carrying a unique meaning for each work, pushes you to focus on the human behind the clothes, the colours and the patterns, letting her works become a powerful reminder that the eyes are the only true mirror to the soul.

🎉 Great News! New Artist on Board 🎉
We are proud to announce that now ARTYQUE represents talented painter Silvia Sarsano.

Silvia is a portrait painter who is able to distil an amazing level of sensitiveness and introspection into her works - in fact, her entire practice is dedicated to witnessing and telling the stories of common people in contrast of who is generally subject to being portrayed.

Following the portraying tradition from modern to contemporary painters, Silvia presents the unfixed beauty of real people without idolization, without any pretence of perfection, in their happiness and sorrow.

“Right by the main road in the town was this incredible abandoned manor. As soon as I crept in, I literally gasped at the possibilities of what I could photograph in this place. The creaking floorboards and immense cobwebs and the glimpse into former stories this place could tell were magical.” Gina Soden

Studio's open doors day. Is it something Artists should do? And how to make it count? 🤔 ⠀
⠀
The answer to the first question is definitely YES ☝️There is nothing more exciting for art lovers than discovering an Artist's studio, where the magic happens. Invite people in, let them feel involved in the creation process. If they like your Art, witnessing the creation of it will connect them in a stronger and more emotional way to what you do. ⠀

Check below 👇 for a bit more details about our checklist (pic n.2 ✌️)⠀
1. Prepare the space for the visitors. Be creative but keep in mind that you have an opportunity to showcase your art and find new customers. Curate your studio as if it was a gallery. 🖼️⠀
2. Be the one who breaks the ice. A simple hello can help to start the conversation. ⠀
3. Speak about your creation. A lot of art collectors choose with eyes, but most of them are guided with their heart. Share your story, your inspiration. Let collectors fall in love with your story. ⠀
4. Share your personal techniques. No one will run home to try and steal them, and even if they do, well.. You just got yourself some followers, renaissance style! 🎨 Jokes apart, this, on top of point 3, shows you have skills and a unique way to create, which is what collectors look for. ⠀
5. Always have business cards ready. While Instagram is a great way to stay in touch, a physical reminder of who you are is priceless. You might not consider yourself as an entrepreneur but truth is that you are your own brand in the creative industry. It is important to make sure that people can reach you back. 📞⠀
6. Exchange contacts. Your visitors can become your collectors one day. Prepare an e-mail list for art lovers to sign in, so they never miss your next show, new series of works or any updates in your career. ✉️⠀

Story of ARTYQUE

ARTYQUE is a Berlin-based agency dedicated to the success of the new generation of emerging and mid-career artists. Created by Ksenia Stepanova and Mattia Cremieux, their mission is to support the most exceptional creative minds out there to develop their career and share their vision and Art with the world.

Could you tell us a bit more about Artyque and How did you come up with this idea?

We launched the agency a year ago, in summer 2019. Both of us are very passionate about art and we had the same reflections about how the art world functions: most of the people that enter the art world professionally find themselves on the institutional/business side of it (I mean galleries, auctions houses, foundations...) and get the chance to hone the skills they’ve usually acquired in university: how to organise and promote an exhibition, sell art, grow your network, etc... When you are an artist, these absolutely essential skills are not things you are generally taught. To be fair, even if you are an artist with high entrepreneurial skills, self-promotion takes away a lot of time and is a significant distraction from your main activity - creating art. Before Berlin, we used to live in London so we are lucky to be surrounded by and constantly meet new talented artists since quite a long time now and this is a struggle that comes back quite often when speaking with them. So it felt right to step aside from the traditional model and focus on the artists’ career itself rather than only on the product of their creation - the artworks. That is how ARTYQUE agency was imagined.

How do you make a difference?
