Available on Netflix for your eyes and senses from today on, the stunning and multilayered debut film SHINE YOUR EYES by Matias Mariani.

The film had its world premiere last February in Panorama, and quickly became on the best reviewed and beloved films of the festival. Congratulations yet again to Matias and the his wonderful team. MPM Premium

"A deliberate, analytical film brimming with subtext and metaphor, “Shine Your Eyes” doesn’t content itself with just one story, opting instead to weave a tale that straddles centuries, continents, and planes of reality. An immigration story that manages to draw in themes about manhood, familial identity, and cultural preservation, director Matias Mariani has crafted a picture that speaks to a broader transient experience that transcends both time and place."
Warren Cantrell. The Playlist.

"My friends tell me, 'You're still young. It will happen. You have to be patient.' But it's so hard to be patient at this age when you discover the world and you are permanently incited by everything. You can't wait to fall in love." - Iris is 17 and takes each day as it comes. When she meets the cool Renata, her life changes abruptly. While her friends explore their sexuality, Iris finds herself faced with new emotions and noisy rumours.

Let's have another closer look into our 2020 programme 😍⚡
#SneakPeek Amber belongs to a queer generation, which no longer wants to allow society to dictate their identity. The teenagers proudly inhabit a spectrum of fluid identities and master their first loves and losses.
Lia Hietala and Hannah Reinikainen present a long-term observational documentary that accompanies the teenager's lives over a span of three years and portrays not only Amber's transition, but also the ups and downs of the friendship with Sebastian.
"How much should I change myself just because society doesn't change fast enough?", asks Amber at one point, thus raising one of the film's central questions.

"Always Amber" is Lia Hietala's second film at Berlinale after the short film "Min Homosyster" (My Gay Sister) was screened by Berlinale Generation in 2017 and won the TEDDY AWARD for best short film.
