Recently, I was invited by Thomas Venker, former editor-in-chief of the renowned German music magazine Intro, for a virtual interview with the online magazine Kaput – Magazin für Insolvenz & Pop. We had a deep dive into my creative process, my thoughts on contemporary music, and more.

Last month, I collaborated once again with Marc Vilajuana, an outstanding local artist from Catalonia known for his work as a musician, composer, and dancer. Marc specializes in Gregorian chant and early music traditions. We have developed a signature duo performance approach over time and look forward to our next collaboration.

A milestone to remember in Modena, Italy! 🇮🇹
Our performance served as the summer season opening for Gioventù Musicale di Modena and a special feature for Festa della Musica.
Following a call for scores, three talented young composers—Leonardo Panni(Italy), 徐俊龍 (Canada), and Nian-Qing (Malaysia)—were selected for our Sheng workshop. After four months of composing their pieces, their new works successfully premiered on June 21 at Chiostro del Complesso Santa Chiara.

Special thanks to Associazione SoundInk: Inchiostri Sonori , Gioventù Musicale Modena, and co-curator Yang Haoyuan 楊浩源 for making this journey possible. Exciting times ahead!

The new festival “TransTraditionale – Music of the Global Present”, organized by Trickster Orchestra , opened with a performance by Taiwanese sheng musician Li-Chin Li as the opening guest. Together with Croatian saxophonist Grgur Savic , they delivered an improvised performance combining sound and physical movement.

I had an incredible time collaborating with Berlin’s last March; their unique energy is truly one of a kind. I’m thrilled to announce that I’ll be joining them again for their very first Contemporary Music Festival, “TransTraditionale: Musikfest der globalen Gegenwart 2026,” taking place from April 24th to 26th.
Expect a mix of contemporary works, improvisation, and immersive interactions with space and people. Can’t wait to be back!

Open Call for Sheng Compositions in Italy🇮🇹

Hellooooo everyone!
A new project has just been born! Composers of all nationalities are warmly invited to create new works for the sheng and for me. We’ll meet in Milan at the end of January for a workshop, with the official performance scheduled for June. For more details, please check the link in bio.
