Saint Abdullah & Eomac announce their fifth album, When The Sandbox Has No Edge, arriving 16 October on Planet Mu.
The first single, “Cyphers Become Sifr” ft. Abbas Zahedi Abbas Zahedi, is out now, accompanied by a film by Rebecca Salvadori rebecca.
The album brings together vocals and poetry from Armand Hammer / ELUCID / billy woods, Richie Culver and Abbas Zahedi; cello from Lester St.louis; guitar from Che Chen of 75 Dollar Bill; and additional production and sound design from _____seraphim______.
“Cyphers Become Sifr” has a particularly special origin. The track emerged from time spent together by Saint Abdullah, Abbas Zahedi and Rebecca Salvadori while developing A Forbidden Distance, the live audiovisual work by Salvadori, Saint Abdullah and Eomac.
During that encounter, they discussed and filmed material around the relationship between sound and moving image. A spoken-word contribution shared by Zahedi on camera became the starting point for the track; Salvadori’s film now returns to that encounter, completing the movement between lived experience, image and sound.
