B-Tour.org

B-Tour.org a nomadic curatorial platform dedicated to guided tours as an artistic practice in contemporary performance, sound and visual art.

B_Tour, established in Berlin in 2013, presents projects by artists, social and cultural experts, architects, activists and experts of everyday life who suggest creative approaches to explore, relate and interact with cities. Projects often look at the intersection between art and art mediation, walking as a performative and/or political act, narratology, anti-tourism and walking as a corporal exp

erience. B_Tour reflects of notions of locality and community in the context of the urban, human-technolgy interface and geographical hegemony. The projects implement innovative approaches to participation and cultivate new discursive artistic formats. B_Tour presented 5 festivals and individual projects by approx. 60 artists and artist groups in Berlin, Belgrade, Leipzig, Copenhagen and Vilnius. Apart from the main program of mobile projects presented in the public space, the programs included a series of panel discussions about current urban matters called B_Talks; a public screening program, workshops, networking events and special programs for young people.

Between April 25th and May 15th, we had the pleasure of being hosted in Kaunas by Ekskursas for our joint endeavor Grande Saison SanuaK in the frame of Kaunas 2022. Three artists (groups) from Germany were invited to bring a guided tour to Kaunas, and adapt it to the local context in collaboration with one of the tour guides there.

On May 1st, Lithuanian Mother’s Day, France Damian and Eglė Urmanavičiūtė presented Mamos Mama Mena (Mom’s Mom Remembers), in which senior inhabitants of Kaunas invited the audience for a personal conversation about their memories of Lithuania under the Soviet regime.

One week later, Mirja Busch and Indrė Urbelytė took us Puddle Watching in the Šančiai district, making site-specific puddles visible and experienceable - even in a dry state.

For the final tour, Gabriel Hensche and Anna Schiefer collaborated with Nerijus Babrauskas to bring Die Wohnung // Būstas , a generic guided tour that deals with the universality of the Bauhaus concept, to Kaunas.

We’d like to thank all participating artists and the Ekskursas team for making this project possible!

Mamos Mama Mena
Gianni Maccaroni in collaboration with Eglė Urmanavičiūtė

This Mother’s Day, female senior inhabitants of Kaunas share their memories of Lithuania under Russian influence in Mamos Mama Mena, or “Mom’s Mom remembers”. Looking at the history of the Soviet regime in this city through a personal lens, the tour guides participants into an individual encounter with a contemporary witness. Set in a specific location in the city that represents her personal story, a white chair offers the stage for a one-on-one phone call with a woman who remembers.

💡𝗙𝘂𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲𝗣𝗲𝗿𝗳𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗟𝗮𝗻𝗱💡 playfully appropriates the format of the travelling funfair as a provocative curatorial framework in which the “attractions” present speculative future worlds shaped by the escalation of environmental change. Similarly to the funfair, it will open its doors on a dormant urban terrain in September 2021, on which immersive artworks explore the intense emotional worlds related to the climate catastrophe.
