We share the frustration publicly expressed by anonymous students during the Rundgang.
Ukraine is still in a war situation and UdK’s GasthörerInnen+ status is not even close to offering a solution for displaced students without Ukrainian citizenship. Now, we are in a particularly urgent situation for the international students who were studying in Ukraine with a student visa, who are only allowed to stay legally in Germany until August 31st.
We are frustrated that the UdK puts its "excellence" criteria above the future of the people and waits until the beginning of the next semester to organise the entrance exams, which is too late.
We demand from the management and admission committees that they make people enroll by August 31. We need a fast-track, transparent and barrier-free procedure.
We demand equal treatment for all displaced people - people without Ukrainian citizenship should be granted the same opportunities that were given to displaced people with Ukrainian citizenship. All people that fled the war must be able to equally access and participate in study programs.
Applying § 24 AufenthG for all displaced students.
Exempting language requirements for displaced international students for at least 2 semesters.
Admission committees to enable students to enroll by 31 August.
Providing equal access to scholarships based on past experience of creating emergency funds and extension partnerships with The German Academic Exchange Service and other respective institutions.
Abolishing the submission of transcripts of records for those students who are unable to provide transcripts of records.
Providing informational, legal, and other kinds of required support in order to obtain student visas.
