Chimaera

Chimaera Ausstellungsraum // exhibition space CHIMAERA is a small, non-profit oriented and non-commercial exhibition space in Berlin, Neukölln. Its founder, Natalie Jergeschew, intends to create a welcoming space showing the ideas and works of people whose artistic or theoretic approach she appreciates and therefore wants to be shared.

CHIMAERA aims to bring together both of them, in all its varieties, art and theory. Inviting lecturers on a regular basis will accompany the exhibitions on display and by that, CHIMAERA can become a lively place for sharing ideas. Fundamentally, CHIMAERA wants to be a space where art can be experienced on a very simple, but direct level, not providing the visitor with tons if distracting information but letting the artistic pieces breathe again and by that, an experience between art piece and visitor can arouse. CHIMAERA shows art and supports ideas. CHIMAERA wants to create something that is missing these days, that is a place where we can concentrate and get immersed, dive into the things we see, hear and feel. CHIMAERA is about nothing else than that: the freedom of experience and communication, a dynamic sharing of ideas and worlds. Putting and bringing things together, which, according to their origin, do not belong together, is the trigger for CHIMAERA. This intention can be explained best with the inspiring figure of the Chimaera, an ancient myth figure from Lycia, having a mixed nature consisting of lion, snake and goat. Finally it was a water color from 1920, transforming the ancient myth figure into a modern one, "The Young Chimaera" by Max Ernst, which gave the exhibition space its name.
