The KIFIFE is a festival of discovery that aims to introduce African youth to the visual art of cinema. For four days, we do open air screenings of films, documentaries, fiction, short films and animations in which the protagonists are children and teenagers. The films aim to show the everyday reality of African children and teenagers. This year we had screenings in the villages of Laongo, Ziniaré and Tamissi with a total of two thousand guests!

It's a wrap! With inspiring presentations by the workshop participants in storytelling and stop motion animation as well as a fabulous dance performance by Troupe Warbe de Tamissi, we closed the 2nd edition of KIFIFE, the Kids' Film Festival at Operndorf Afrika / Village Opéra! The Festival's last screening took place under a starry sky at Tamissi Village. The atmosphere was magical and the film "Adama" by Simon Rouby was the perfect ending to a wonderful festival.
.
We want to thank all the participants, the workshop leaders from ABCA and filmmaker Poupoune Sesonga as well the mobile cinema team of CNA.
The festival was made possible by the generous support of Goethe-Institut!

See you next year!

In 2020, we are looking back on ten years of development and collaborations but we are focused even more urgently on the future. With our advent calender we want to give an insight into the history of the project - based on extracts of our anniversary catalog - which seeks the bridge between the utopian idea of the project and its actual implementation.

Besides the actual village in Burkina Faso, the project is also a platform and presents african artists at international exhibitions & engages in contemporary discourses. In 2016 for example, we’ve been one of the Frieze Projects as part of the Frieze London international art fair. Photographs by Nomwindé Vivien Sawadogo and parts of the stage set from Via Intolleranza II were on display. Via the Burkina Tower by Andy Hope 1930 and Aino Laberenz, video conferences with Burkinabe artists were switched live every day, which addressed questions about the potential for change in society through art.

🔛Especially now, we would like to continue our program as far as possible: If you not already are, become a part of it - Link in bio!

The catalog is supported by Stiftung Kunstfonds and Kunststiftung NRW.

Operndorf Afrika has been a permanent partner of the EFFO project at the Robert Koch-Institute since 2018. The focus of the train-the-trainer program is the further training of medical staff in dealing with diseases caused by highly pathogenic agents, such as Ebola fever. In addition to didactic training elements, topics such as basic hygiene and educational work in the community also play an important role. In the course of the COVID-19 pandemic, the EFFO project with the project partner Missionsärztliches Institut in Würzburg is supporting its local partners in Burkina Faso.

In December 2019, one of the five international dance salons took place at the Opera Village, in cooperation with the Goethe-Institut and CDC – La Termitière, as part of the Tanzkongress. Under the direction of the renowned choreographer Meg Stuart, international artists were invited to try out contemporary questions of dance in a practical and collaborative manner.

Allgemeine Information

10 Jahre Christoph Schlingensiefs Operndorf Afrika
