NO. 5 on "Physical distance"
WERK presents CONTACT by Clemens Wilhelm, 2014.
(Be sure your HD option is ON for best quality)

Given the struggle of being self-isolated, a significant number of “Online Dating” memberships increased during the quarantine period.
Some “Relationship Experts” argue that those who meet with a partner but keep a physical distance “are forced to not move too quickly into the bed”, therefore helping to get to know each other and create a meaningful connection instead of a mere emotional crutch.
Clemens Wilhelm’s first comedy melodrama addresses a peculiar physical interaction that took place during an online date in the city of Prague in 2014.

WERK is glad to present: Gegen den Strich (Look both ways) by Eva Vuillemin, HD video, 2013
(Check the Link in our profile description and please be sure your HD option is ON for best quality) “As regulations on public space keep relaxing in some countries, crowds are coming slowly to their usual flow. Eva Vuillemin's careful steps evoke the figure of the sleep walker. Like a Moon walk in reverse through Grand Central Terminal seven years ago; today it acquires a particular significance as the City of NY still struggles with the number of contagious”. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jiWdeOlt1Eo&t=32s

COMA by Francisco Montoya Cázarez, 2015

“Taking us on a trip across the Solar System, we follow the trajectory of Comet “67/P” as it approaches the perihelion: The closest point to the Sun in which a nebulous cloud of dust and gas known as “Coma” extends to thousands of kilometres. COMA (la cola del cometa) (the tail of the comet) takes the shape of a space documentary film that explores a link between the movement of Cosmic Bodies and their cultural impact on Earth in association with catastrophic events such as Wars, Natural disasters and Epidemics."

The third video piece in our quarantine program is “COMA” by Francisco Montoya Cázarez from 2015.
You can watch it in our youtube channel linked on the profile description.

“Just like thinking in circles, the information circulation... injection onto empty paper, thoughts saturate the empty mind”.
For the second video piece, we are glad to present another video related to another crucial aspect in our current crisis, “Information”.

NUR DAS MEER SAH ZU (Only the sea watched) by Tom Schön & Per Olaf Schmidt, 2011

WERK wants to contribute to your quarantine time at home with a video program in our youtube channel that you can enjoy from your cozy couch as we all try to flat the curve together.

For our first piece we have chosen a piece that somehow relates to our current situation of “Isolation”,
Per Olaf Schmidt (one of the co-founders of WERK) & Tom Schön staged a satirical melodrama that takes place in an unknown German villa in where the characters seem to be confined in a fortress.

NUR DAS MEER SAH ZU (Only the sea watched) by Tom Schön & Ole Automatschiep Schmidt , 2011

In order to support our physical distancing, we also had to leave kisses and hugs for the imagination and pospone indefinitely our upcoming show at WERK. Ins...

"Schwindelig wandeln (Dizzy going)", 2016 (Installation view at WERK of "Also the stones want to be stones forever", 2018)

(ALSO THE STONES WANT TO BE STONES FOREVER) by Francisco Montoya Cázarez. Exploring the relation between environment, individual and object, for the 2nd part of Missed call, a group of different sculptures and objects were arrayed within the space as a whole giving way to an environmental installation that focus on the constant transformation of the urban and natural landscape and displacement.
