Right before the weekend, our Project Selection Experts have officially completed the review process for this year's Seriesly Berlin Pitch Sessions.

With more than 250 submissions—our biggest response yet—we're thrilled to have welcomed several new experts to the team this year. Bringing together diverse backgrounds and industry experience, they dedicated the past weeks to evaluating this outstanding range of projects and helping shape the selection for Seriesly Berlin. Thank you Anna Göpfert, Ioanina Pavel, Bente Schill, Samya Hafsaoui, Jakub Knott, Filson Ali, Bastian Asdonk, Julia Wiedel and Dennis Ruh for your time, commitment and sharp eyes throughout this year's selection process.

After a well-deserved weekend, we'll come together to make the final selection. From more than 250 submitted projects, a curated lineup of the most promising new series will be invited to pitch in front of international producers, broadcasters, platforms and financing partners.

Before we reveal the finalists, we'd like to introduce the people behind this year's review process.

Stories shape how we see the world—but what shapes the stories that reach our screens?

The European consultation "Stories at Risk" is now open!

Developed by Seriesly Berlin and selected for sponsorship by the Council of Europe Pilot Programme for Series Co-Productions, the initiative explores the conditions for creative freedom, cultural diversity and storytelling in European series.

Implemented in collaboration with a Europe-wide network of leading festivals, markets, professional associations and industry organisations, the consultation invites writers, producers, broadcasters and streaming platforms, festivals and markets, and film commissions, public funding bodies and other public institutions to share their perspectives.

📝 The survey is anonymous, takes 10–15 minutes, and is open until 10 August 2026.

The findings will inform the Stories at Risk online Think Tank sessions and will be presented at Seriesly Berlin in September 2026 and published in an executive summary.

Tomorrow, 30 June, is the submission deadline for the SERIESLY BERLIN PITCHES 2026.

If you have an original series project that is ready to be presented—whether at an early development stage or actively seeking international co-production and financing partners—this is your final opportunity to apply.

Selected projects will pitch live during the Seriesly Berlin Conference on 15 September 2026 in Berlin, joining an international programme designed to foster new connections, conversations and collaborations across the series industry.

Our panel “How Micro-Dramas and Longform Series Compete — or Coexist in Germany” sparked a fascinating conversation about the changing landscape of storytelling and audience habits.

Together with Beatrice Rossmanith, Kai Fischer, Henriette Lippold and moderator Hadnet Tesfai, we explored how short-form formats and longform series influence one another, what viewers expect today, and whether these formats are truly competing — or evolving side by side.
