Summer of Music: Vol IV
On August 12, we will present the latest edition of our summer program, Summer of Music: IV, with the stellar participation of Argenis Brito @argenisbrito.music who will delight us with spatialized versions of legendary chilean singer-songwriter and socialist political activist Victor Jara, both as live and as a sound installation. Latin, hot-blooded and with decidedly tropical tendencies, Argenis promises an experience full of emotions, Latin American nostalgia mixed with a powerful contemporary sound that will envelop the attendees in a magnetic embodied listening experience.
Before each session, we will continue to feature a Recalibration by Soundworks @soundworks.app to tune in your senses. This moment will serve to sharpen our attention and in particular our ability to listen more deeply, to listen with the whole body. Also, during every session will be complemented by a 4DSOUND installation by William Russell Human / Nature / Machine is a live performance, performed by William Russell using the piano, the performance environment and various material objects as instruments to control the sonic dynamics of natural phenomena
Season Finale After Party will be announced very soon (all tickets will give you access to the after party)

Tomorrow - Summer of Music: Vol III
@echocollectivemusic a diverse group of classically trained musicians based in Brussels, Belgium.
The collective will be working for a week in our studio to compose a new spatial piece in collaboration with Tilo Von Ketelhodt, spatial sound engineer from Monom Studios.
Neil Leiter, describe’s what moved him, Margaret Hermant & Fabien Leseure to explore and create with the 4DSOUND composition instrument.
‘We have a long established interest in physical space, and how that physical space impacts creation and interaction. And as musicians, we constantly search for new ways to share our creative energy. Our goal at Monom Studios is to juxtapose these two questions. How will this space inspire us to create? And, how will this moment of creation be archived and experienced in the future? Monom offers an unparalleled opportunity to find new answers to these fundamental questions.
As a color palette, we plan on combining prerecorded textures with live violin, viola and harp featuring Echo Collective's founding members, Margaret Hermant and Neil Leiter, along with sound shaper Fabien Leseure’

This June 25, during the second session of Summer of Music: Vol II, we are very excited to explore for the first time how the sounds of the harp, one of the oldest instruments in the world can be reimagined and expanded spatially thanks to @aquarianrenegade
Berlin based artist Andy Aquarius is a sonic alchemist and devotee of mystical folklore. Being a multi-instrumentalist and exploring a wide range of genres, he has laid out the path ahead with his debut album 'Chapel', which only features his Celtic harp and voice. The record takes you on a 'transcendental journey through the outer realms of ambient, classical, new age, and folk music.' (-Alex Ruder, Hush Hush/KEXP). Andy's live performances are of a peaceful simplicity and thick atmosphere, putting all the intent towards a sincere delivery of his bucolic canticles and meandering instrumentals.
During this session you will also hear sound installations by @soundworks.app & @rsb_orchester

Summer of Music: vol I presents @oliverklostermann live in Monom lounge
Oliver Klostermann is a pianist, composer and producer based in Berlin. Composing his Live- Sets, he uses his unique musical intuition and ability on the piano. Besides his own productions he writes music in various other elds, like the interpretation and orchestration of F. Händels „Xerxes“ for the Chiemgauer Opera-Festival or collaborations with various performers and ensembles like the well established Residenz-Theater in Munich. After performing live at Fusion-Festival in 2016, the young artist decided to move to the worlds capital of electronic music and quickly became one of the most promising newcomers and a very much celebrated underground act in the scene.
Oliver‘s Live-Shows and Dj-Sets are highly appreciated at some of Berlins most renown venues like Sisyphos, Ritter Butzke and Wilde Renate or Garbitzc-Festival. His Live-Sets evolve around a hybrid live and dj-playstyle, wich is not just a mouth dropping view to witness, when Oliver‘s fingers rush virtuously over his keys and gear, but a stunning musical experience full of improvisation and unexpected moments for every music enthusiast.

This Saturday at 18:15 during Sensoriality: The Agapé we will have Prof. Dr. Ursula Koch who will give a talk about perception of hearing and the auditory system. In addition, insights in how the brain perceives and processes music. Lastly, a small focus on how people on the autism spectrum develop differences in the perception of sound.
On the research focus of Prof. Dr. Ursula Koch: We are interested in how our brain „learns“ to understand our acoustic environment. We investigate which genetic and external factors contribute to the proper development of brain circuits that analyze sound patterns. To better understand these developmental processes we investigate neural circuits (ion channels, synapses, anatomical structures) in the auditory brainstem and midbrain using a combination of electrophysiology in acute brain slices and anatomical/immunohistochemical methods in normal and genetically modified mice. The results aim to unravel the molecular components of auditory brainstem development and may contribute to better understanding the physiological basis of auditory processing disorders.
