Is part of Ferdinand Dölbergs solo show "Bitte Widersetzen!".

opening tonight from 7 - 9 PM.

⚡️

“Steel conducts electricity. Neurons shoot through the brain. Lightning strikes. We are surrounded by chemical and physical marvels happening at all times within our bodies, but also around us in nature. Boundaries are constantly being crossed, explored, discarded as unnecessary, and yet then re-established. Everything is a cycle. And Golinska’s sculptures give some fine hints of how to position oneself within it, despite all the chaos.”

Sascha Herrmann | Glimmer

Opening today from 2 pm - 8 pm.

Come by! 🥂

Part of the show is a series of spectral-analytic photographs of illuminated stones. A combination of microscopy techniques, photographic contact prints and short- and long- wave UV light makes visible the rocks’ refractive properties, for instance, their opalescence and fluorescence.

Rebekka Benzenberg: Vielleicht rettest Du mich - gallerytalk.net

"Rebekka Benzenberg aims to capture the present, which becomes a relic of the past in the archiving process. The objects cast in epoxy resin thus seem like historical artefacts.
The same applies to the fur, which is both controversial for ethical reasons and antiquated as a garment. Despite its precarious manufacturing conditions, fur remains associated with prestige and prosperity. Detached from its elitist context, the artist works on the material by means of a radical decomposition and besmeared inscription – gestures of rebellion. Through this act of appropriation, the inscribed layers of meaning are recoded, but never completely overwritten."

TITELBILD 2
2020
120 x 190 cm
Oil on canvas

On a two-meter wide canvas it reads: “MICHAEL JORDAN/ MICHAEL JACKSON/ MICHAEL KREBBER”. The typeface as well is based on the horror genre. The three protagonists named were born around the same time. While Michael Jordan and Michael Jackson were the greatest stars in their disciplines of all time, Michael Krebber is a different kind of celebrity. He is considered an artists’ artist, an eternal insider tip. He studied painting in Karlsruhe, was assistant to Georg Baselitz and Martin Kippenberger and from 2002 to 2016 professor at the Städelschule. His formal gestures and conceptual tricks often exceed the understanding of art experts. In many cases it remains unclear, for example, whether his refusal to produce is due to a lack of ideas or a deliberate bluff. His dandyish approach finds a resounding echo in Warburg’s exhibition.

Nicholas Warburg - Graduating Slytherin

opening tomorrow noon - 8 PM

In his exhibition “Graduating Slytherin”, Nicholas Warburg takes a look at the myth of the Städelschule as an in- and outsider. It’s never quite sure whether the staging of his own persona is the product of his own narcissism or a commentary on art students in general or students of the Städelschule in particular.

🐚🦪

A show within a show, in der, ganz nach Vorliebe der Künstlerinnen, Zwillinge eine Hauptrolle spielen.

Nicholas Warburg ist richtig sauer is co-founder of the collective Frankfurter Hauptschule. His work adresses German history and art history with an air of ambivalence. Warburg links narratives of National Socialism with the philosophical notion of #Hauntology. The term depicts the phenomenon of feeling haunted by historical possibilities that did not come to pass. Within Nicholas Warburg's work the „Thousand Year Reich“ of the N***s appeares as such a "nostalgia for lost futures" (Mark Fisher).
