Counting down to new adventures! A light sculpture praising the sun's total spectrum illuminating a space, a collection of golden insects lying on the floor like a trail of devastation, light tubes recreating chromatic light changes through atmospheric scattering with the help of an AI, data sculptures that echo the rhythmic pulse of the living, metallic objects shimmering in the desert sun like relics of a vanished world...

Since the documentation of some of the artworks created in 2022 has not yet been completed, I had fun using an AI to give you an idea of the works, still waiting in line to be documented and those waiting to come into being:

Today I celebrate aging.
Sometimes I wish I could turn back time, only to deal differently with past moments of my life as a younger self but with more clarified and courageous mind as it is now. Or at least to tell my younger self that being different feels now like a burden, but in future it will turn out as a fortune.

After all, nothing is more constant than change. Fortunately. Cheers 🥂

The upcoming installation "Everything will be fine“ consisting of 500 dead insects, will be dedicated to the conservation of the past and the transience of biodiversity, especially to an extinction happening mostly unnoticed.

For this installation, no insects were harmed or killed. Exclusively dead, found specimens were collected (and are still collected due to the vast number of pieces) by a number of dedicated volunteers, who decided to help and shed a light on this urgent topic! Thanks to all of you, overwhelmed by your dedication and findings!

While we are still working on it, documented some already finished pieces and added another perspective to my work and the concept, which reveals a fascinating cosmos and shows that there is always more to it than meets the eye. Literally.

The world’s insects are hurtling down the path to extinction, threatening a catastrophic collapse of nature’s ecosystems. More than 40% of insect species are declining and a third are endangered. The rate of extinction is eight times faster than that of mammals, birds, and reptiles. The total mass of insects is falling by a precipitous 2.5% a year, suggesting they could vanish within a century. Reasons for this mass extinction are chemical pesticides used in agriculture like neonicotinoids, displacement of wild meadows, grass- and marshlands, overfertilization of soil, and soil sealing by asphalt and concrete. Insects not only pollinate the fruits and vegetables we eat, but they are also digging the ground, which makes it fruitful, and utilize carrion and f***s.
Unless we change our ways of producing food, insects as a whole will go down the path of extinction in a few decades. The repercussions this will have for the planet’s ecosystems are catastrophic, to say the least.

Seaphony - Life on planet Ocean

The exhibition SEAPHONY takes the sea to Berlin, with three immersive installations and an associated programme of artist talks and panels.
Experience the deep Ocean and its unique soundscapes through spatial sounds, light and imagination. Virtual reality and three dimensional audio tableaus let you immerse yourself in a world that can seem otherworldly unreal, always sensual and often fragile.

The immersive audiovisual installation is composed by Chris Watson, a founding member of the avantgarde band Cabaret Voltaire, a composer and one of the world's most distinguished specialists in natural sound recordings. SEAPHONY is based on his underwater recordings from all over the world's oceans. Developed in collaboration with spatial sound specialist Tony Myatt featuring a sculptural light installation by Berlin artist Theresa Baumgartner.

The audio tableaus OCEAN.WORLD.MODULES by wittmann/zeitblom throw light on the taming of the oceans by man. Background information on the threats to the oceans and how you can help protect the sea is shown by contributions by Bund für Umwelt und Naturschutz (BUND).

Vision allows us to distinguish different objects by outer shape or color. But light as energy is essentially invisible. The invisible, the knowledge of physical perceptual phenomena is incorporated into the everyday experience of light. The prismatic sculptures are rich in information as they retain the light in the glass zone like a visual, immaterial painting and therefore prove light's optical existence. At specific angles, the spectrum shifts in intensity or disappears as the viewer approaches or moves away. Ranging from natural homogeneous sunlight to artificial light these objects reveal light's true nature and capture it for enabling observation and exploration.

White light is a combination of lights of different wavelengths. Every atom and every molecule has its very own and therefore unique spectrum, hiding in the light like a genetic code. As a result, spectra can be used to detect, identify and analyze information about matter in terms of frequency and electromagnetic interactions. "All Colors Depend On Light" is a sculpture series that uses the spectral analysis of light as a fundamental exploratory tool to expose the illuminant's very essence by dispersing it in its colorful code.

My work “Wave Fragment“ was honored with the Aesthetica Art Prize 2021 (Longlist) and was published in “Future Now 2021 - 125 Contemporary Artists from the Aesthetica Art Prize”!

We are happy to announce Tacit Dialogues, an on-going artistic research project.

This collective investigation, explores the traditional craft of glassblowing and translates implicit, bodily knowledge of the maker into digital data, experiences and objects.

We will present the project to the public for the first time. Following a kickoff-event during Gallery Weekend , that will feature live glassblowing and interactive data recording, the results and translations of the collected data will be presented in an exhibition from May 8 to 21st curated by Federica Sala

Teamed up with my talented studio mate .wiezorek | Additive Addicted for this project while experimenting with fluid materials (ceramics) created by a technology-aided process following geomorphological processes of creation. Stay tuned for more to come, while we are already fascinated by the occuring textures and objects.

Captured winter sun.

Light is electromagnetic radiation. Like all energy, radiation is essentially invisible. The invisible, the knowledge of physical perceptual phenomena is incorporated into the everyday experience of light.
Like a visual, immaterial painting the produced sculptures are rich in information because they retain the light in the glass zone and therefore prove light's optical existence.

In nature, light always has the "right" relationship to time and space, it is unique and not interchangeable, whereas this relationship has constantly to be re-established for artificial light.
For art, artificial light has a crucial advantage compared with natural light: it can be manipulated.

In this case, a sunlike LED is illuminating a glass sculpture, producing a homogeneous light spectrum comparable to sunlight's full spectrum.
