Die Filme fangen den Reichtum des zyprischen Kunsthandwerks auf visuell eindrucksvolle Weise ein. Sie rücken Stickerei und Keramik, Web- und Silberschmiedekunst, Möbelbau und Holzschnitzerei, Korbflechterei, die Kunst des Steins sowie die Essenz von Kleidung und Schmuck in den Mittelpunkt. Durch diese thematischen Erkundungen werden jene Handwerkstraditionen sichtbar gemacht, die das immaterielle Kulturerbe Zyperns ausmachen, eingefangen durch den künstlerischen Blick des Regisseurs Filep Motwary.
In den acht Episoden kommen insgesamt 80 Persönlichkeiten aus der Welt des Handwerks zu Wort – Meisterhandwerker:innen, Künstler:innen sowie Historiker:innen. Jede und jeder von ihnen nähert sich auf einzigartige Weise dem Begriff des „Zyprischen“ durch den Akt des Gestaltens.

The films capture the richness of Cypriot craftsmanship in a visually compelling way. They highlight embroidery and ceramics, weaving and silversmithing, furniture making and woodcarving, basketry, the art of stone, as well as the essence of dress and adornment. Through these thematic explorations, the crafts that constitute Cyprus’s Intangible Cultural Heritage are brought to light, seen through Motwary’s unmistakably romantic and deeply visual artistic lens. Across the eight episodes, 80 figures from the world of craftsmanship take part — master
artisans, artists, visual practitioners and historians, each approaching, in their own unique way, the concept of “Cypriotness” through the act of creation.
