NEW: Sofia Mitsola – Sisterly Affections

🐚 Myth, desire, and painting—reconfigured

In „Sisterly Affections“, London-based artist (b. 1992) constructs a vivid pictorial world where myth, desire, and painting converge on contemporary terms. Her women figures—confident, theatrical, and self-possessed—inhabit spaces that resist fixed narrative or moral framing. Mitsola approaches female eroticism not as spectacle but as agency, informed by classical imagery and reworked through a contemporary feminist lens. Bringing together paintings, drawings, and watercolors, the catalogue is accompanied by a text by Alyce Mahon and an interview by Jennifer Higgie, offering a nuanced portrait of an artist redefining the terms of sensual representation today.

Con te con tutto (With You With Everything), curated by Cecilia Canziani

OUT NOW: Márton Nemes – Metropolitan Baroque

🔈 Hybrid, collective, and always in motion: Márton Nemes’s techno-inspired art

Hungarian artist (born 1986, lives in New York and Budapest) creates spaces for bodily perception at the intersection of abstract painting and sculpture, digital culture, techno, and urbanity. In his radical installations of powder-coated steel with embedded speakers and an LED screen, visitors encounter light and sound elements that expand into a pulsating environment. Nemes’s immersive, multisensory spaces reflect the rapid acceleration, fragmentation, and technology’s superimposition of our present, while simultaneously allowing for the experience of self-determined fluidity and contemplation. This volume documents Nemes’s comprehensive exhibition „Metropolitan Baroque“ at the Museum gegenstandsfreier Kunst (Museum of Non-Objective Art) featuring works from 2019 to 2025.

NEW: BOOM! 7 JAHRE NOVA SPACE / 7 YEARS OF NOVA SPACE

→ 7 years nova space: the gallery of Weimar’s Bauhaus-Universität looks back at an eventful chapter

From 2019 to 2025, nova space, Weimar’s university gallery put up 21 projects, which this volume documents in image and text. As both an experimentation field and meeting place, nova connected international artists, students, faculty, and the public under the enthusiastic direction of curator Katharina Wendler. Her essay provides insight into the unique history of this mobile and interdisciplinary gallery, its program as well as the continuous development of new curatorial formats. The 21st act of nova is an exhibition in book form, for which artists, architects, designers, typographers, and filmmakers were invited to create work that freely associates around the theme of BOOM!—inspired by the image of the supernova.

We’re delighted to share that Nobuyuki Tanaka has been selected as a finalist for the LOEWE FOUNDATION Craft Prize 2026 ✨

His work “Inner side – Outer Side 2021 N” was shortlisted among 30 works by the Expert Panel and will be presented in the upcoming Craft Prize exhibition in Singapore in spring 2026.

Tanaka’s sculptural vessels combine the centuries-old Japanese kansh*tsu (dry lacquer) technique with a striking contemporary, organic form language. Built from layered h**p cloth and finished with repeatedly polished black lacquer, the work reflects the artist’s deep exploration of body, space, and surface.

We are especially proud to have published Nobuyuki Tanaka’s book “Primordial Memories”, which offers an in-depth look at his extraordinary sculptural practice and the role of lacquer in contemporary art.

Congratulations to on this well-deserved recognition.

TONIGHT: OPENING AND BOOK PRESENTATION
Valentina Jaffé – Dripping Folds and Melting States

Friday, January 30, 2026, 6 pm

Rudolf-Scharpf-Gallery of the Wilhelm-Hack-Museum, Ludwigshafen

→ Valentina Jaffé’s largest solo exhibition to date—about transformation, space, and the language of materials

„Dripping Folds and Melting States“ is published in conjunction with .jaffe ’s most extensive institutional solo exhibition to date. Blending artist’s book and catalogue, the volume gathers works from the past five years by the young artist, who lives and works in the Rhine-Neckar metropolitan region. In interdisciplinary and inter-media works, Jaffé explores the principle of collage—as an aesthetic as well as conceptual method. Her paper installations awash in color and ceramic objects examine transitions, imbrications, and the mutability of material conditions. Accompanying essays by Carolin Heel and Fedra Benoli add depth to her engagement with space, body, and material.

BOOK PRESENTATION & TALK
Cahier 002: Silke Wagner, bürgersteig

Friday, January 30, 2026, 7 pm

with art historian Karen Van den Berg and artist Silke Wagner
Free entry

→ The first complete documentation of Silke Wagner’s visionary project between art and activism

Between 2001 and 2002, a VW bus bearing the inscription “Lufthansa Deportation Class” was on display in various German cities. It was part of the provocative „bürgersteig“ action by Silke Wagner (born 1968, lives in Frankfurt) about Lufthansa providing aircraft for deportation purposes. The bus sparked heated debates and became a vehicle for activist networking and communication among citizens. The participatory art project was groundbreaking at the time in its collaboration with civil justice initiatives. Cahier 002 documents „bürgersteig“ for the first time with all its aspects, disclosing the sources for the action as well as material on the legal conflicts that followed the project.

SELBER ORT, ANDERE ZEIT.
Künstlerbund Baden-Württemberg 1955 – 2025

🪟 FROM OTTO DIX TO TODAY: 70 YEARS OF ART AND DISCOURSE IN BADEN-WÜRTTEMBERG

This two-volume publication commemorates the 70th anniversary of the Baden-Württemberg Artists’ Association, which presented its first exhibition in 1955 at the Staatliche Kunsthalle Baden-Baden. At that time, the state-wide artists’ association included Otto Dix, Ida Kerkovius, and Willi Baumeister, among others. Today, the Baden-Württemberg Artists’ Association has 450 members. Archival material provides insight into its multifaceted history, and insightful essays illuminate the significance of artists’ associations and the discourses they initiated in post-war Germany, after the country’s division and eventual reunification. The second volume documents the current exhibition “SELBER ORT, ANDERE ZEIT” (Same Place, Different Time), featuring 21 artists who stand for the broad spectrum of creative approaches and generations represented in the association.
