Fury Island

Continuing the season dedicated to youth theatre, the next Young Europe premiere will take place tonight at Weöres Sándor Színház.

In "Fury Island", the circumstances and motives of the story reveal themselves in the overlapping of the narratives of the sixteen-year-old high school girl Stuci, her nineteen-year-old friend Zsomer, and the monologues of her mother Erika, a fifty-four-year-old librarian.

Weöres Sándor Szinház (Szombathely/Hungary) collaborated with the theatres De Toneelmakerij in Amsterdam (Netherlands) and Deutsches Theater in Berlin (Germany) to find out what was occupying the minds of the young generation today. What emerged was a clear theme of democracy – its meaning and ...

(Re)Discover Raquel André's presentation of "Collection of People" during our conference in Dresden, May 2019 ⤵️

[🎥 ETC Panel "European Formats of #ParticipatoryTheatre"]

Raquel André, Artist at Teatro Nacional D. Maria II (Lisbon, Portugal) presented her "Collection of People", a work with 4 Collections: Lovers, Collectors, Artists and Spectators. Raquel André started her artistic path as far as she remembers. One day she took a box full of handwritten letters, a correspondence from a family in the 70’s, 80’s and 90’s, and from then she made her first performance in 2009. Since then she started having an interest in collecting, especially in the idea of how to collect in the performing arts, about which she wrote a master thesis at University Federal of Rio de Janeiro (2016). She started the Collection of People in 2014.

This presentation was part of the panel "European Formats of Participatory Theatre" during the ETC International Theatre Conference in Dresden (Germany) on 24 May 2019.
