Nature and humans are the original components from which all ideas, thoughts, and debates derive. Human figures and nature are merging into a symbiotic, or at least utopian union, leading us to think about the past and memories of our species and world. It is in the transmission and remembrance of the past that the practice of the two artists diverges. Indeed, photography is the baseline of the exhibition, so are the contrasts that construct and mark the gallery’s space. The black and white prints differ from the color photographs, displaying inanimate objects in contrast to the colorless alive subjects. Despite their differences, these photographic and movie-like figures offer themselves to our spectator’s gaze, they want/need our attention. Artists have created needy figures that only live with our presence to deliver a message

Aloha Berliners, we are offering a lovely office room to rent as office/studio, perfect for a one-person business, or for a small team, to work, not live in. The room is circa 30sqm, recently refreshed, with a big window. The use of the bathroom, kitchenette, and storage space are included, like high-speed internet, heating, and electricity costs. The furniture you see in the photos can be removed/exchanged following your needs. As we do keep running the Art Gallery in the front rooms, we are looking for a compatible, possibly creative, business to take the room. DM in case of interest.

Until June 10th: LOST MILLENNIALS
.mougeot
.
The work of Valère Mougeot, strong of a series of undeniable references to notorious pop-art pieces, is characterized by the interrelation of elements, which invite a multilayered dialogue between the verbal and the visual. Using different forms – from painting to sculpture and installations – he intends to recreate with both irony and melancholy a confusing environment reminiscent of the public and urban space, his main source of inspiration in everyday life. He diverts its signs, re-uses poor or raw materials as well as manufactured objects. By creating associations, and hybrid compositions, he wills to give them a new voice and thus recreate a partially animated space where each piece, a fleeting trace of the human interaction, becomes an autonomous messenger according to its mode of appearance. He intends to provoke in the viewer – a stroller stuck between the state of a simple passerby and that of a reflective reader – a questioning of its attentive ability to decipher the signs of personal and interpersonal conflict that our contemporary societies can generate.

Current exhibition: LOST MILLENNIALS with and .mougeot until June 10th
.
Millennials are facing a rough time figuring out their position, being lost, and confused by the schizophrenic-bipolar claims of modern society. They are required at the same time to be ecological, though compulsive consumers, to be sympathetic, though egocentric individuals, to not be racists, thought to be scared by everyone different, to be sexually promiscuous, while keeping the classic family structure, bypassing the gender, in some part of the world, but not the structure. Millennials were told they could do anything and be anyone, to dream big, to pretend for their dreams to come true, without facing the impossibility of such a statement, especially on an overpopulated, saturated planet. We are actually talking about a generation that for the large part got deceived by society, filled up with untrustworthy news and empty over- communication, tricked by social media, and abandoned by faith and religious beliefs. Yet, at the same time, this generation proved to be interested in making substantive important changes in the world they’ve grown into and to be substantially optimistic, not easy on surrendering. Both William Grob and Valère Mougeot try to look at the world honestly with open eyes, without turning away from its unflattering sides. They believe that the people and the surrounding objects, regardless of the higher divisions of beautiful and ugly, are worthy of being portrayed. They realize that the multiple paradoxes of their reality and society need to find their place in the art world. This démarche, while it brings the work of both William Grob and Valère Mougeot in strong relation with the Berliner Dada and New Objectivity movements from the 20s, it also instigates the viewer on strongly reflecting on the status quo of the present.

MINDSCAPE curated by our director and independent curator exhibiting:
.
The exhibition MINDSCAPE was born out of a spontaneous and enthusiastic collaboration between independent curator Suzy Royal, gallery director and curator Luisa Catucci, and artist and curator Yvonne Andreini, as a reaction to the accumulated frustration during the years of the global paralyzation-pandemic. The pandemics’s anagram is MINDSCAPE, and mindscapes are precisely the mental worlds, ontological categories in metaphysics, where most creative people sought refuge not only during the pandemic, but also in the face of the most recent dramatic political events. Mindscape is created by the range of a person’s thoughts and imagination, regarded as a panorama capable of being contemplated by another person. It is the landscape of thoughts, a reification of the domain of imaginary entities, memories, feelings, ideas, fears, or any other object in the mind, seen together as making up metaphoric features.

Roberto Kusterle, series "Abissi e Maree", on display until February 26th
.
The principal themes of @robertokusterle ´s poetics is a continuity between the human, animal and vegetable world, the mediating role of the body, the negation of the gaze, the constant practice of irony, ambiguity and displacement to shape an idea and to make the viewer wonder.
Photography is used to maintain the tension between fiction and reality. Kusterle has a very personal approach to the camera: the actual taking of the picture is only the last step in a complex and articulated creative process.

At the Luisa Catucci Gallery, we believe in the power of inspiring art and culture.
Humanity’s emancipation and evolution, since the beginning of time, is reached by feeding the soul and brain with stimulating nourishment, in order to open more doors hidden in our brains, to become better beings, better societies and thus a better planet. Art is an outstanding power food. We truly value its fundamental role of instigator for reflections and feelings out of the ordinary.
Based in Berlin, in the newly trend neighbourhood of Schillerkiez Neukölln, just a few meters away from the unique park of Tempelhofer Feld, Luisa Catucci Gallery, is more then just a conventional art gallery; it places itself as one of the fundamental elements of the area’s cultural turmoil.
The gallery’s program focuses mainly on art exhibitions, inspired by ecological, social and existential matters, through a variety of media, including photography, video, painting, sculpture and printmaking.
Beside the exhibitions, Catucci organises regularly multidimensional events, in order to bind art with talks, culture and enjoyment, supporting the vibrant spirit of the town and the area.
As a natural evolution of a 15 years long project of the Italian curator and artist Luisa Catucci, known as Cell63 artplatform – a space to work and exhibit for young emerging artists- Luisa Catucci Gallery took on board, since January 2017, a new assortment of established and emerging artists from the European art scene, naturally with attentive eye to the Italian one.
Luisa works permanently in contact with the artists represented, not only to develop the gallery’s exhibitions and international art fairs, but also to accompany them in their professional career, outside the gallery’s wall. Several of our artists have already exhibited at museums and public institutions worldwide, or took part in prestigious exhibitions, such as Manifesta or Venice’s Biennale.
