Luisa Catucci Gallery

Luisa Catucci Gallery Contemporary Art Gallery based in Berlin. At the Luisa Catucci Gallery, we believe in the power of inspiring art and culture. Humanity’s emancipation and evolution, since the beginning of time, is reached by feeding the soul and brain with stimulating nourishment, in order to open more doors hidden in our brains, to become better beings, better societies and thus a better planet.

Art is an outstanding power food. We truly value its fundamental role of instigator for reflections and feelings out of the ordinary. Based in Berlin, in the newly trend neighbourhood of Schillerkiez Neukölln, just a few meters away from the unique park of Tempelhofer Feld, Luisa Catucci Gallery, is more then just a conventional art gallery; it places itself as one of the fundamental elements of the area’s cultural turmoil. The gallery’s program focuses mainly on art exhibitions, inspired by ecological, social and existential matters, through a variety of media, including photography, video, painting, sculpture and printmaking. Beside the exhibitions, Catucci organises regularly multidimensional events, in order to bind art with talks, culture and enjoyment, supporting the vibrant spirit of the town and the area. As a natural evolution of a 15 years long project of the Italian curator and artist Luisa Catucci, known as Cell63 artplatform – a space to work and exhibit for young emerging artists- Luisa Catucci Gallery took on board, since January 2017, a new assortment of established and emerging artists from the European art scene, naturally with attentive eye to the Italian one. Luisa works permanently in contact with the artists represented, not only to develop the gallery’s exhibitions and international art fairs, but also to accompany them in their professional career, outside the gallery’s wall. Several of our artists have already exhibited at museums and public institutions worldwide, or took part in prestigious exhibitions, such as Manifesta or Venice’s Biennale.

TRA COLOR CHE SON SOSPESI
(Between those who are in suspense)
Aqua Aura – Lidó Rico

April 3rd – May 28 2021

Part of the cultural events for the 700th Centenary of Italian poet Dante Alighieri

sculptor Lidó Rico’s works use the human body as a mean to communicate both emotional and sociopolitical stances.  According to Lidó Rico, a single individual can encompass and represent the whole of humanity, and in this sense, a person is considered to be a container for universal perceptions and ideas, as well as a set of independent and individualistic thoughts. His work often expresses the unpleasant feelings of the individual confronted with the inadequacy of any form of organized society, which, due to its own functioning, inevitably represses and flattens the varied range of human facets. As in Francisco Goya’s last works, Lidó Rico’s installations often feature a great density of bodies immortalized in suffering poses or rebellious gestures, underlining that the feeling of unease and inadequacy is common to the whole human race, regardless of the specific historical context.

“Noi veggiam, come quei c’ha mala luce
le cose», disse, «che ne son lontano;
cotanto ancor ne splende il sommo duce.

Quando s’appressano o son, tutto e` vano
nostro intelletto; e s’altri non ci apporta,
nulla sapem di vostro stato umano.

Pero` comprender puoi che tutta morta
fia nostra conoscenza da quel punto
che del futuro fia chiusa la porta».”

Inferno, Canto X

“We see, like those who have imperfect sight,
The things,” he said, “that distant are from us;
So much still shines on us the Sovereign Ruler.

When they draw near, or are, is wholly vain
Our intellect, and if none brings it to us,
Not anything know we of your human state.

Hence thou canst understand, that wholly dead
Will be our knowledge from the moment when
The portal of the future shall be closed.”

It was last October, the last Exhibition Opening we were allowed to have. And anyway already with strong limitations.
It was for the exhibition SIGNS with @acsurga and @paolo_treni

Posting this memory today to congratulate Mr Treni for being a finalist at 2021 edition of the @exibart art prize

Paolo Treni artworks, realized with lasers, enamels and varnishes applied in subsequent stratifications on plexiglass support, deal with the material transcription of dreams, live thanks to light reflection and refraction.
Treni succeeds in harnessing the vital atmosphere, that comes from the surrounding environment, into plexiglass, by ensuring that this material catches the light intensity and then radiates it in a changing chromatic spectrum.
Thanks to an admirable compositional balance, an ongoing harmony among contrasting elements, this artist can establish a deep emotional and empathic resonance with observers.
Gradually, Paolo Treni’s work evolution combines two-dimensional production to wall installations in bigger dimension that dialogue with space, until well-rounded installations.
