Rosa Blens hat einen Ausstellungsbericht zu unserer Ausstellung „On Illness, Resistance and Modes of Collective (Health) Care“ geschrieben:

This event is a journey through dense and complex expressions below and beyond the language of ‘transgender’ that infuse past and present modes on gender nonconformity in Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Indonesia and beyond. The contrasts and commonalities between wandering terms of otherwise non-categorical genders in these regions are bridged through a documentary film , Pilgrimage to the Bissu Community (dir: Tamarra, 2019) that will be made available online from 23 November through 10 December and a hybrid conversation between Tamarra, Vicky Shahjahan, Sophia-Layla Afsar, and Ferdiansyah Thajib on how each of them engages with memories of ancestral practices and politics of holding spaces of care through their specific practices

This was "Working class by daughters" at District in late October, a performative installation and the final part of a fashion trilogy by working class daughters (Karolina Dreit, Kristina Dreit and Anna Trzpis-McLean). Thank you to everyone who passed by to hear and share stories!
"After the design of a t-shirt collection within a fashion show without models and an eastern european market inspired car boot sale, we open up a department store at District. A space for stories about class. How are the obvious structures of inequality and its subtle constraints, e.g. how one talks or what one wears, how are habitus and taste interwined in individual biographies? We counter the discrete charm of the bourgeoisie with the obvious. We are exposing what is supposed to stay hidden and state it boldly on t-shirts: working class by daughters.

🍁 Exhibition extended 🍁
Our current group exhibition "On Illness, Resistance and Modes of Collective (Health) Care" is prolonged until the 27th of November. As a growing archive, it's enriched by new contributions who enter the dialogue with the other works, and so we are presenting a new work by Nuray Demir on rituals and practices of self-care.
Visit us on Tuesdays 12-16h, Thursdays and Fridays 15-19h and Saturdays 11-15h.
Stay healthy, keep on caring ♡
