TOMMY LEXXUS (Bassism | Forecast | Higher Ground | Planet Reese | Sub.FM | VOID Berlin) Since his arrival in Berlin some years ago, the good natured deejay, producer, label manager and promoter from San Francisco didn’t waste any time in establishing himself as one of the cities top-ranking Junglists. With his Bassism label nights and residency at VOID club, Tommy Lexxus soon became a fixture in the Berliner bass music scene. Thanks to older crews such as Freak Camp, Tommy’s past in Berlin extends back before his big move across the pond. He reminisces on his first gigs with Scuba at Golden Gate, as well as Headhunter and Tes La Rok at VCF. After teaming up with Higher Ground label manager Jimi Handtrix in 2013, the dynamic duo have been mashing up dances across the city. Both Bassism and Higher Ground hosted stages at A Bass Odyssey, Jimi’s massive bi-yearly weekender Mensch Meier. Within only a few years, the two have played host to some of their favorite artists, such as Aries, Navigator MC, DJ Hybrid, Bachelors of Science, Compa, Egoless, Sukh Knight, N-Type, Truth, Dubsworth, and many of Berlin’s finest. Promoting is only a small part of Tommy’s repertoire, as production and performance play bigger roles. Speaking of production and releases, Tommy has also teamed up with K2 aka Lonnsen, a newcomer to the Bassism family, and one of Berlin’s best upcoming producers. The two started a new Bassism night at Yaam Club, with Biome as their first guest, on the mighty BUNS soundsystem. Bassism also helped host the Deep, Dark and Dangerous night at St. Georg, and the Soundpieces night at IPSE. Looking into 2019, May 10th and September 13th are their next dates at the Young African Art Market. VOID continues to be Tommy’s Drum & Bass home, with several big dates in the works. Mr. Lexxus is sincerely looking forward to the 1st of February, with Nicky Blackmarket headlining. You can catch Tommy every other Wednesday evening on Sub.FM, where he hosts Bassism Radio. Not only limited to Jungle, Dubstep, or Halftime Drum & Bass, the Lexxus plays an array of bass and dub influenced music, whatever he likes in the moment. He has guests from all over the globe stopping by and submitting guestmixes, but also doesn’t sleep on paving a wide road for Berlin’s best and brightest to be recognized.
