We are looking forward to see you tonight at Archive Kabinett, as well as we would like to invite you to follow the whole "Visionary Archive" programme, as the tomorrow's event in a fellow space "Scriptings", Wedding.

"A hand full of films, Studio Gad"

Exhibition and Screening: 25 to 30/5/2015, Mon to Sa, 12 pm to 7 pm
Presentation and Talk: Tue, 26/5/2015, 7 pm
with Sara Gubara (filmmaker, daughter of Gadalla Gubara), Katharina von Schroeder (editor and filmmaker 'The Two Sudans’, 2015), Nadja Korinth (journalist and producer), Roman Deckert (journalist/country analyst Sudan) and Achim Lengerer (artist, editor Scriptings). Music by DJ R.O.Man (Khartum/Pankow) and food by NIL Imbiss Berlin.

Gadalla Gubara (1920–2008), pioneer of Sudanese cinema, made feature films, TV reports, educational films, and advertising films for nearly 60 years. Because of the complex political and cultural situation in Sudan and his own outsider role amongst the federation of Pan African filmmakers he remains largely unknown and unaccounted for in the history of African film. A hand full of films out of 44 hours of digitized footage selected by Sara Gubara can be seen for the first time at the Scriptings project space, together with research materials such as photographs and interviews with Sara and Gadalla Gubara.

Excited to be part of Justifiable Versions of Events next week. Tomorrow, 7pm at Archive Kabinett:

Jan van Eyck AA presents Justifiable Versions of Events

/Catastrophe

A one week event of exhibitions, symposia, interventions, actions, workshops, papers and performances, initiated by the Jan van Eyck Alumni Association. The program is set to test the limits, contradictions and potentialities of the idea of Catastrophe, conceived as a critical tool, a practical resource and a terrain of struggle.

Justifiable Versions of Events (JvE) is the second edition of the yearly gathering of the work platform JvE/AA, an institutional errance or error, periodically moving to different places, and acquiring multiple acronyms, in the continually reshaped attempt to find frames for a heterogeneous and polemic set of practices.

On Monday, 21 July, Justifiable Versions of Events will stage a series of presentations by authors of books and publishing projects that are either in progress or have recently been completed by JvE members, affiliates and friends. The presentations will span a range of topics from theory to design to literary fiction and will include readings and short talks followed by discussion.

Thanks for everyone who came last night! Was a very interesting conversation. Tonight we will be at Archive Kabinett again to celebrate the launch of "Making Money: The Philosophy of Crisis Capitalism" with a discussion
with Ole Bjerg, Matteo Pasquinelli and Stefan Heidenreich.

What is money? Where does it come from? Who makes our money today? And how can we understand the current state of our economy as a crisis of money itself?

In Making Money, Ole Bjerg turns these questions into a matter of philosophical rather than economic analysis. Applying the thinking of Slavoj Žižek and other scholars to mainstream economic literature, Bjerg provides a radical new way of looking at the mysterious stuff we use to buy things. It is a theory unfolded in reflections on the nature of monetary phenomena such as financial markets, banks, debt, credit, derivatives, gold, risk, value, price, interests, and arbitrage. The analysis of money is put into an historical context, suggesting that the current financial turbulence and debt crisis are evidence that we live in the age of post-credit capitalism. By bridging the fields of economics and contemporary philosophy, Bjerg's work engages in a compelling form of intellectual arbitrage.

Come down from 7pm!
