New project - COMING SOON - it has been really quiet here lately, but now we are back. In the last few months I've been working on a new idea together with my girlfriend Carmen. We wanted to start a project which would allow us to open up to new genres and offer more value to musicians and music lovers. And the result is Sonoraspace - a platform where music enthusiasts can book live video sessions with their favourite musicians.

They can make music with their musicians, just talk to them or learn from them and get tips and tricks.

To enable us to adapt our platform to your wishes and needs, we have created a survey on our website: sonoraspace.com

We would be happy if you could take 1 minute to answer the 6 multiple-choice questions. Among the participants of the survey we will raffle two 30 € Spotify Premium coupons as a thank you for your support.

We are looking forward to your feedback on our new concept. Feel free to leave us a comment or write us a DM or email ([email protected]).

All the best
Carmen and Oliver

Btw: We've created a brandnew page for our new project. This one remains as an archive of my neoclassical blog. You will find the new page here: facebook.com/sonoraspace

It was such a great first night at the Q3Ambientfest Edition 2018! :)

Trekking across Europe to play shows outside of the UK for the first time has been amazing. But it was only really possible because of the way that a wonderful Modern Classical community has been developing and growing in recent years.

At Q3Ambientfest in Potsdam last night, hosted by the ever-inspiring CEEYS, it was so wonderful to be sat amongst musical friends and legends from across Europe. Amongst many others, these guys have been so encouraging and supportive to me in recent years, and maybe just 3 years ago we hadn’t even come across each other online and now we meet in real life 🙂

It’s a perfect example of how great things can happen and develop when you work together and support each other. If only we Brits had remembered this 🇪🇺

Particularly special to be able to @edcarlsen & Carlos Cipa perform live, as well as a breathtaking performance from Marina Baranova. Feeling very fortunate today.

Follow these guys and listen to their music ⬇️⬇️⬇️

Piano Day 2018 gets better and better. :)
Please head over to my good friend Rubin Henkel and his fantastic teaser for his debut album (Release: 14.04.2018). 🎶🎉

Ruhe is out now !

After spending months collecting all my little childhood compositions from old harddrives, Ipods, and compact cameras I recorded and recomposed them all in my studio in Berlin Neukölln. My old Knauss Piano was the center of my life for the last two months and I am very happy about the musical contributions of some of my friends.

This Album contains some of my most dear melodies and memories. I cant wait for you all to hear it very soon!! 🎹

#9 Story - Simeon Walker about "Coda"

Coda.

The first series of the "Album Stories" with the fantastic Simeon Walker comes to an end with this text about the final track of his album "Mono".

It was such an honor for me to host and support Simeon with it. Huge thanks to him! :) Thanks for his creative spirit, this album and of course the idea for "Album Stories". It will definitely continue with other artists on my blog and became an integral part of Sonorospace.

Also big thanks to all the other writers: Mary-Jane Walker, Gregory Euclide, Garreth Broke, and Andrew Glassford- Sound Engineer. Last but not least: Thanks to Giles Smith for the astonishing concert photos!

Let's finish it with a quote by Simeon: "Our little niche part of the musical world continues to grow and it’s exciting to see what the future holds." :)

In musical vocabulary, a coda is a passage that gives a sense of closure and finality to a piece of music, song or movement. In this case, a simple melody just occurred as I was absentmindedly playing around before doing a take of another song. With the

#8 Story - Gregory Euclide about Simeon Walker's "Letters"

"Letters is a walk along a train track that passes through the countryside. The grass is coming right up to the crushed stone that they used to stabilize the track." - Gregory Euclide

Gregory, who is most famously known for his "Bon Iver" artwork, is also the creative mind behind Simeon Walker's "Mono" cover, which is print of a Queen Anne’s Lace flower.

It is pleasure that he has also contributed a wonderful text about the piece "Letters" for this "Album Stories" series. So enjoy it on my blog and have a nice evening!

"I'm obsessed with the textures of sounds and interested in minimal forms, with how to say things as simply as possible, how to distil things into their primal form." - Jóhann Jóhannsson - 1969 - 2018

I am still saddened about the death of the Icelandic film composer Jóhann Jóhannsson. He passed with just 48 years in his Berlin apartment and the world lost one of the best musicians of all time. His musical legacy is stunning and so it's devastating to know that this highly talented person will never again enrich the world with his unbound creativity. In December 2016, I had the chance with some very close friends of mine to see him live at the Funkhaus in Berlin. It was his "Orphee" tour and for us all was this evening a stunning and unforgettable concert. He had always been focused to create the best possible musical expierence and did it with his calm, unconventional and sophisticated manner on every film and album project. I will definitly miss him and at this sorrowful hours, my thoughts are with Johann's family and friends.

#6 Story - Simeon Walker about "Lilt"

This is Sonorospace.

Hello,

My name is Olli and I am a Berlin-based blogger, photographer & all-time music lover, who is the mastermind behind this platform. Sonorospace is your space to discover new music of the modern classical genre with interviews, articles & playlists.

The idea of this platform was born in January 2017 & I wanted to establish with it a new way to discover the musical masterminds of a new generation of contemporary composers. This journey started originally with the name "Ónority Music", but in August I changed it into Sonorospace.

The meaning behind it is simple: the word "sonoro" is a short version of sonorous, which is synonymous for "fine-sounding". Space stands not only for the fact that this blog/platform is truly a space for modern classical music, it is also a hint to one of my favorite albums of all time - the legendary "Spaces" by Nils Frahm. So thanks for visiting my website & enjoy my playlists, interviews, articles and much more.
