🐘 The 'pink elephant' is a regular and welcome guest during the PAS process. If it is not around, the process might get a bit boring and lame. But if it is present we can see wonderful works where ideas took a risk and went outside of the box. ⠀

At certain stages of the artistic process, it is simply healthy to think the impossible, the absurd, the stupid, the paradox and the grotesque. Doing so will open a wide range of possibilities in order to find the genius thought which will make the work shine. We often get stuck in our concepts or the way we want to be seen. The pink elephant of PAS will simply remind you that there is much more beyond that what we always think we know or allow to happen. With its big foot, it is stamping on everything that is constructed, just to check if it is stable enough. ⠀

We are very sure that you want to meet our pink elephant. First, you might not like it, but with the time you want it always around you and your art. ⠀

In the meantime, we kicked-off the next 🔥open call🔥 for the program in Berlin and as well for the Online Classes. If you are interested in any future programs, leave us a message or send an email ([email protected])

The fantastic sculptures of Iria Do Castelo. The Spanish artist offers an affordable assemblage sculpture workshop at SomoS, Dec 7&8.

Introducing some more work from Spanish multidisciplinary artist Iria Do Castelo, who will be guiding the Fantastic Beings: Body Sculpting & Assemblage Workshop. This time we present her series "Creatures", which aims to distort the domestic environment.

In her workshop, body sculpting, assemblage and found objects may come together in curious ways, just like in her "Creatures" series.

The workshop is open to anyone, artist or not, from 18 years and above. Please register by sending an email to [email protected] by December 1.
60 euros for both days, December 7-8, including material (can bring additional objects to incorporate into sculpture).

🔵 "Como Somos?” is a title of Hannah Santana's final work presented as a result of PAS # 65 in Berlin.

➖ Simplicity ➖ can be a key in the performance art process. Through research and precise observation of space, form, material, etc. we can create a strong visual appearance which gives a lot of space for the actual content of the work. Also, we can combine different styles of performance in order to form a holistic work. This has happened during PAS #65 in Berlin with the performance of Hannah Santana.

Full of inspiration, we are preparing for the next program in Spain, where you can still catch 1️⃣ more spot that is available. If you are interested in any future programs, leave us a message or send an email ([email protected]).

Marcia Vaitsman, PhD, is a multi-disciplinary artist born in Brazil and currently based in New Jersey, USA. Her work focuses on the practice of games as perceived experiences and how games relate to art.

During her show Marcia Vaitsman - Spielraum, taking place from June 26 until June 29 at SomoS, the artist will present five sets of art-games playable by the audience within the exhibition space.

Here is a video introducing her work. Though the process of participating in the game, we discover the purpose of the game is not winning, but to cooperate and enjoy the game. What we can learn is not only to imitate others like a mirror, but also the ethics, ideology and behaviour of other human beings.
