Hello! 👋🏼 3rd of the year for the third Monday of 2023. I can tell you now that this is my absolute favorite one.
But I hated it while I was drawing. I didn’t have a prompt nor a concept for the other two, they were just fun. But this morning I was thinking about all my to-dos and how I feel so energized to get them done! So I created a concept based on that, how I feel making my way through my notes and my errands and my work obligations. I wanted the image to show that it is hard, but doable.
It is not always easy to get things done just like it was not easy drawing this, I struggled. This thing of starting a drawing without any direction is quite a challenge! But amidst my improvising I discovered many interesting things:
1. I work well if I create/have a concept. If I draw without a direction, I get lost more often and my images become more boring.
2. I see some harsh black shadows that came up by accident. I love this accident and want to see more of it.
3. I got back into playing with sizes and exaggeration. I realized I don’t that much since college. I guess I need to be challenged to draw within a concept for that, but not sure. Definitely need to remind myself of that.
4. Very fun to draw something with less colors! Loved using the black, it gave depth and it differentiates from my super colorful body of work.
I am excited to see what I come up with next!
Come back next Monday for another one!
*This is a self-initiated and very chill weekly challenge that I hope to keep for the year of 2023. The goal? That every Monday I take a couple of hours to draw for myself, whatever I want, with whatever medium I feel like. And then I put it on the internet :] Just to start the week off in a good
