In conversation with Artists @ Home Residency - Miller-Zillmer Foundation

In changing times we have to think about new ways of communication. How do we manage to remain creative despite lockdown and restricted freedoms, how can we actively counteract personal and national isolation and work together across national borders and how can this new reality be inspiring? These and other questions were asked by the artists of the Home Residency Programme during the live talk with the audience of the Miller-Zillmer Foundation, moderated by Dr. Nicolas Bougaïeff.

Today we invite you to listen to some of the fascinating experiences Francisca Saez Agurto, Pavel Ruzyak, Pulpy Shilpy and Roberto Santaguida have shared on their virtual island within the Home Residency Programme. Enjoy 🧡

Introducing our dear friend Andreas Schneider, who is one of the board members here at MZF.

Andreas grew up in the northwest of Germany and has been a passionate musician, vocalist and producer since the age of 16 (he loves a good dance, too). In 1999, Andreas founded Schneidersladen, Berlin’s infamous synthesizer store. Since then, his life has been all about ‘analogue’, ‘modular’ and the limitless possibilities of electronic music. You can visit the shop online at schneidersladen.de

Andreas is also the founder of the annual Superbooth Berlin GmbH, an international melting pot of instrument makers, dealers, end users, organizers, interested amateurs and professional musicians since 2015. Educational projects that share and promote a passion for music and electronic experiments are particularly important to him and have created a platform for the involvement of children and young people at SuperBooth.

The Miller-Zillmer Foundation is proud to support Berlin-based ‘Aktion'70 - Jugendhilfe im Verbund’ with emergency funding during these challenging times.

Committing to #stayathome is difficult for children and young people who live in educational institutions separated from their families, often with limited or no internet access at all. With the purchase of new computers, our initiative seeks to provide digital access for children, youths, educators and social workers alike 💟

Also questions for Pulpy Shilpy: Which DAW do you use? What is the role of sampling in your music? Do you mix your songs while you’re producing or do you have a separate mixing process after all production work is done? Who are your main influencers? and questions for Roberto Santaguido: What kind of movie would you film if you had unlimited funding? Can you describe your most creative state of mind? How can you distinguish great ideas from mediocre ones? Do you have any instinct about that?
Hi everyone! What a great project! I have some questions for Pulpy, Roberto, Francisca and Pavel: Do you believe in inspiration? Does it exist or is it just a question of mastery? Is it possible to boost it? What do you think is the source of your inspiration? What aspects affect your creative process? What is/was the most creative period in your life?
It is very encouraging to see that there are people who think about who can stay on the road. I am an electronic musician from Barcelona. Fortunately, I don't live exclusively from music and I have a job, but I appreciate that you lend yourself to helping other people who will need it. A hug from Spain. I leave you here my last song, still mastering the demo.
