Saturday 20 August from 6 to 7pm, Landwehrkanal Berlin Kreuzberg. The floating mirror stage by .berlin moves slowly from
Hobrechtbrücke to Dreiländereck.

We exist on one planet but live in 7.8 billion worlds. The classical/contemporary choreography by Isabella Harritz Sørensen and Megumi Eda is accompanied by NEW OPERA HERO (keys/electronics) and Shramm (beats and percussion)

This was our first attempt to bring music makers out of the studio to see what happens to their creative process in a different environment.

For their new water stage event Sound Drifters Berlin teamed up with the brilliant pianist Esh Loh to explore alternative ways of experiencing music. On June 28th you are invited to board their moving water stage, lay down and immerse yourself in this soulful piano performance. A spiritual journey through music and sound.

Water is one of the last free spaces in Berlin. We want to use the experience of being on the water to inspire new ideas and musical concepts and present the results.
You will compose a piece based on water sounds and learn creative strategies and techniques to develop and arrange your musical ideas. Suitable for beginners and advanced levels. This event is supported by Draussenstadt and Ableton

Getting ready for our first dance performance on water!
“One Planet - A Billion Worlds“ is a dance/concert performance on a moving water stage in Berlin, It deals with the growing polarisation in society. We exist on one planet but we live in 7.8 billion parallel worlds.

The topic is explored in three short pieces through the clash of styles between a classic/traditional and a modern dancer, who have to find ways to combine their skills. Musically they are accompanied by a pianist (keys/electronics) and a drummer (acoustic/digital) who also have to find their way through traditional and modern/electronic interpretation of the motifs.

2 Spaces in Berlin for Musicians fleeing Ukraine

We have space for two Ukranian refugees.
Whilst it feels wrong to specify 'musicians' under these grave circumstances, there is no fair way to pick from the 10000 Ukranians arriving every day in Berlin. However with musicians we can offer further support to settle them over here through help with funding schemes, a creative outlet etc.

Sound Mirror Concerts: 19 June 2021 in Berlin.

The two free concerts start at 14.00 and again at 17.00 each time from Hobrechtbruecke Landwehr Canal and ending one hour later near Elsensteg, Neukoellner Canal.

The stage is moving at walking speed so that the audience can walk alongside it or pick one specific place on the shore and wait till it passes by. The exact location can be seen here via a live tracker that will be online on the day of the concert.
In case of rain concerts will be delayed and starting times will change. Updates will be found here and on facebook.

NEW OPERA HERO - 'Sound Mirror' concert installation Berlin

FREE WATER CONCERT - BERLIN

Our summer season starts with a floating concert installation on the Landwehrkanal next week on 19 June as part of 48 Stunden Neukölln

The project 'Sound Mirror' sends three live musicians on a floating stage installation down the kanal.
Soundscapes recorded en route are integrated into the score reflecting the locations they originated from. The shore becomes both stage and auditorium.

You can view the concert from the shore between Tuerkischer Markt and Kiehlufer. Performances are at 14:00 and 17:00. Exact location with realtime tracking will be on:

After the unavoidable winter lockdown we are re-emerging with our next water project: Sound Mirror.

This concert installation will be performed live, floating on a route along the Landwehrkanal. The neoclassical / electronic score is based on field recordings and impressions from the exact same journey so that the performance 'mirrors' the atmosphere and surroundings at any given point of the way.
For now we are looking for a creative cellist, violin/viola and soprano (choir/sweet voice) who are interested to experiment and perform with us in June. You should be classically trained but open for other styles and not get seasick 😉 Get in touch!

Rico Loop - live at Sound Drifters Berlin

Here is a taster of Ricoloop 's amazing two hour live set, testing our latest prototype. A beautiful ending to a very eventful summer.

In order to develop Berlin’s waterways for artists and performers, Sound Drifters tried out the following concepts in front of a selected audience:

- noise control with live music via headphones in collaboration with JoodLife
- green power battery sharing network by GreenPack Mobile Energy Solutions
- 360 streaming set up by I N V R
- coronaconform hygiene concept with audience members in 1-3 seater boats.
- opening of the water community to outsiders thanks to Spree:publik
- artist collaboration hub for ongoing projects
- non commercial set up thanks to community support.

Space of Urgency Berlin 2020: How can we create spaces for cultural experimentation in times of crisis?

We've been part of Kollektiv Spieltrieb e.V. panel to discuss the development of the new Spreepark in Berlin with other organisers and politicians. There is huge potential with regards to water culture and we are very happy that our friends from the collective have pushed this project continiously.

Ricoloop kindly agreed to get inspiration for one of his fantastic live loop sets from the 2nd prototype of our new water stage.

Sound Drifters are working on a cross disciplinary stage- and collaboration concept that is artist driven, corona conform, neighbourhood and eco friendly and brings culture to the waterways. This experiment will take place this Thursday the 24th, with a selected audience of 25 people in small boats.

We would love to invite 2 creative minds to this circle, who organise events or somehow benefit the wider live music/performance community. Please PM. Enjoy!

Robin Sukroso with Acpad guitar controller live at Sound Drifters Berlin

Brilliant performance by RobinSukroso who is just working on his new ACPAD guitar midi controller and who was kind enough to try out the first prototype of our mirror stage. We are learning a lot and version 2 of the platform is ready for Ricoloop later on this month.
After that we will encourage cross disciplinary collaborations to push this constantly evolving project even further.

So here is the issue: This was 3 Laendereck when the Mermaid Opera performance on Isolation Island took place.

If we assume that people are keeping to the regulations in their own boat, we will still need a distancing system between them, that doesn't lock everyone in.

Suggestions?
