Carole has enjoyed a long association with Britten’s masterpiece, and has also appeared as Auntie in Geneva, Düsseldorf, Monte Carlo and Vienna.

We start with South African soprano Noluvuyiso Vuvu Mpofu, singing an excerpt from Bernstein’s GLITTER AND BE GAY from Candide - a production from the Bergen National Opera directed by Thom Southerland, with the Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Karen Kamensek.

Currently at home in Port Elizabeth, South Africa, Vuvu looks forward to returning to the stage in the Autumn - all being well - as Adina in L’elisir d’amore for Seattle Opera.

We are so proud that soprano Noluvuyiso Vuvu Mpofu - Soprano director Annabel Arden were invited to be a part of “APPLAUSE 2020” at Glyndebourne.
This new work composed by Jonathan Dove premiered on Sunday evening at the launch of “Glyndebourne Open House” and the piece, performed by Glyndebourne artists from around the world celebrates and thanks the NHS and all essential workers for their tireless efforts throughout the Covid19 Pandemic.
Vuvu Mpofu made her debut at Glyndebourne in 2019 as the First Nymph/Rusalka and returned for Gilda/Rigoletto on the Glyndebourne Tour, she will return to Glyndebourne in the coming years. Vuvu was awarded the 2019 John Christie Award.
Annabel Arden’s association with Glyndebourne began in 2004, and for the company she has directed Gianni Schicchi; The Miserly Knight; L’elisir d’amore and Il barbiere di Siviglia.
