🌑🌞Van Gogh’s early years as a painter in his native Netherlands are known as his “dark period,” characterized by muted, earthy colors. The most famous painting from this period is “The Potato Eaters” from 1885.
🥐🎨After arriving in Paris in 1886 and becoming acquainted with the Impressionists, Van Gogh’s palette brightened and became more colorful. His “Light Period” culminated in Provence, where the painter lived from 1888 until his death. His most valuable and expensive works, such as “Verger avec cyprès” (Orchard with Cypresses) and “Laborer in the Field” (Laboureur Dans Un Champ), date from this period.
