A meditation on the seduction of transcendence, and the price of confusing ambition with ascension.

This piece explores another ending; not the fall but the rebirth.
If Icarus was reborn, is rebirth enough to redeem the fall, or is the dream itself the true destination?

Will the temptation of the ego and humanity’s longing to transcend its own limits be the downfall of our species?

Tajga started with a simple question…

How do I give dumplings and noodles a personality?

Not “authentic.”
Not another generic Asian food brand.

Because let’s face it, it’s dumplings, they’re comfort food. 🥟

Just something playful, handmade and a little chaotic.
Every colour, illustration and photograph was built around that feeling.

Tajga became that project that Vojta Bazant and I had to immerse and build every step of it. From grinding in the kitchen, calculating costing sheets to illustrations, brand design and food styling, my soul was poured into it every step of the way.
As a chef and an illustrator, the visual language had to live in the food. The identity of Tajga had to be felt before you take your first bite. And of course, I also had to make sure that you’d come back for more after you had that first bite 😉

Because good branding isn’t fancy decoration or just the “logo”.

It’s giving people a reason to smile before they even take the first bite.
Food that is meant to be shared, fought over and stolen from your friend’s plate.

Wild and wanted, hot and hunted. Like the tiger you are 🐯 tajga_dumplings

An ancient Chinese idiom about willful ignorance.
Even if you choose not to hear the truth, it does not become any less true.

I’ve had this concept in my head for weeks, when I was travelling in Asia. And now I’m back to fulfil it.

Wayyy overdue post, but this was something I did last Christmas as a personal challenge and project.
I was brainstorming on what to give for Christmas that wasn't just "another item", especially for "non-material attachment" family members.

I just cooked up this sudden idea of linoprint out of absolutely NOWHERE.
I had never ever done it before. But, I had a vision ✨
So I went to town with it. And this was one of the perks of having a decorative bird as a family name.
Bažant means Pheasant in Czech.

It was meticulous because I had to research and learn everything bout lino. And on top of that, I wanted a glorious festive themed print.
Designing and experimenting with which parts to leave in or carve out took awhile.
Then the journey of which and where to get all those tools.
And realising I had to do a much bigger size than initially intended. (I tend to go crazy when it comes to details)

But. We got everything. We learned. Far from ideal but it wasn't too bad I would say :) next post to show u my design process.
