She finished elementary school at her birthtown, grammar school in Becse (Bečej) and Teacher Training College in Újvidék (Novi Sad), on the Faculty of Fine Arts. Since 1971 she has been teaching fine arts in Zenta (Senta)
She has achieved excellent results by organizing workshops where the focus is given to the emancipation of the young artificer's creativity and on participation in various compe
titions and exhibitions. In the pottery-workshops which she organizes there is a specific and unique atmosphere present, which is characteristic to handcraft cultivated in community. Apart from the annually held nursery of artists Erzsébet Mezei is organizing a handcraft workshop for her former students every August, where among the options, tie-dyeing, felt-making and pottery is to be found. The aim of these workshops is to bring on the creativity of the students, to introduce them to particular crafts or to improve their existing skills, and to create objects of value. Premeditation, attention and earnestness characterize the way she approaches her assignments (and her own artistic work as well), and have resulted in her achievements and assures her advancement as an artist and as a teacher as well. Erzsébet Mezei by her pedagogical work is an acknowledged graphic artist, and as an artisan she is involved with pottery, felt-making and textile-dyeing. She is a member of several craft unions and professional commitees in Serbia and abroad. Prizes and achievements:
