“Galeria de Arte de Batsu”
The names of the six indigenous peoples of Costa Rica are written. The art that represents each people is noted. A word was chosen that represents each of the six peoples and can unify them, whether it be an animal, a bird, or a cultural element. Once the name was chosen, it was a bird, which has the same meaning for the different indigenous peoples. The name chosen was the word hummingbird, representing the local artisans and artists. The word hummingbird in the Bribri language is BATSÙ. It was chosen because it is easy to pronounce, as in other languages it is very long and complicated to pronounce. BATSÙ for indigenous peoples means Success, Fortune, Happiness, and Beauty.
