🌿✨ The Voynich Project is starting to come alive

A new update for the demo is now available!

Several scenes that previously used static illustrations now feature animated backgrounds and subtle environmental motion: moving clouds, glowing lights, swaying leaves and other small details that make the world feel a little more alive while preserving its illustrated style. 🌙

This is only the first batch of animated locations. More will gradually be added in future updates.

⚙️ We have also added a new option under Options → General → Animated backgrounds.

It is enabled by default, but you can turn it off if you prefer the original static backgrounds or want better performance on lower-end systems.

We also reorganized parts of the Options menu to make it easier to navigate.

🛠️ A new update is now available for the demo of The Voynich Project!

This patch does not add a major content expansion, but it is the most complete collection of fixes and improvements we have released so far.

Main changes include:

✨ A new option to display thoughts as traditional dialogue.
🖱️ You can now scroll upward to reread previous thoughts.
📖 Better compatibility across all languages and font sizes.
🛤️ All four available routes are now shown at the end of the demo, even if you have not unlocked them yet.
🔧 Fixes to scenes, music, dialogue colors, the Character Journal, tarot reading and other details.

With this update, the demo is now in its most stable and polished state yet while we continue working on the full version of the game.

🌿 New major update for The Voynich Project demo! ✨

After a lot of work with the programming and design team, we have released what will probably be the final major patch for the demo before fully focusing on the development of the complete game.

The biggest addition is the new Character Diary, a section inside the Gallery where players can unlock characters, check their profiles, discover notes based on their choices, and track their progress with each one. 👀

We also added:

🖼️ A new Characters tab in the Gallery
🔒 Hidden characters that will become available in the full game
🏆 A new Steam achievement related to completing the Character Diary
🐾 Compatibility with both human mode and furry mode
🔮 Debby, the game’s tarot reader, now has her furry version in the tarot minigame
🌎 Everything prepared for the game’s six languages

This patch marks an important closing point for the demo, but it also opens the door to a much bigger stage for The Voynich Project.

🌿 New patch available for The Voynich Project

Hello everyone!

I just released a new patch for The Voynich Project demo. This update focuses on polishing visual details, improving the overall experience, and leaving the demo in a better state before moving more seriously into the development of the full game.

Main changes:

🖱️ New custom cursor
The game no longer uses the default Windows cursor. It now has its own custom cursor, designed to better match the visual identity of the project.
It can also be enabled or disabled from the game’s options menu.

📝 Updated credits
The credits section now includes more information about the people involved in the project.

🛠️ Save menu bug fixed
The overlay bug that made the cursor feel misaligned in the save/load menu has been fixed.

⏭️ New image for Skipping mode
When the game enters “Skipping mode,” it now shows a special image instead of the usual plain text.

🏆 Achievements migrated
All demo achievements have been migrated to the main game.

📌 Important note
This will probably be the last relatively big update the demo receives before I fully focus on developing the official game.

From now on, if the demo gets more updates, they will mainly be for fixing visual bugs, glitches, or any details that need polishing during the next several months.

So, if you find anything weird, broken, visually awkward, or simply something that feels like “yeah, this could be better,” please report it. It genuinely helps a lot.

📢 **A new update for the *The Voynich Project* demo is now available on Steam!**

Hello everyone 💙
I wanted to share some important improvements that are now live in this latest update:

🖼️ **Improved HD Backgrounds**
Many in-game backgrounds have been updated with higher resolution, sharper visuals, and additional detail. The goal is to make each scene feel more immersive and alive.

🖼️ **New Menu Option: Gallery**
The **Gallery** is now visible in the main menu.
It is still under development and will continue to improve soon, but it will allow players to unlock special scenes from the demo 👀

This also prepares the foundation for a future Steam achievement related to this feature.

🎵 **Remastered Music**
The entire soundtrack has gone through a more professional mastering process.
Although the game still uses `.mp3` files due to Ren’Py limitations with `.wav`, the audio now sounds cleaner, more balanced, and noticeably better on both headphones and speakers.

Every update brings *The Voynich Project* closer to the experience I originally envisioned.

🎧 Update 1.4 is now live for The Voynich Project

70% of the soundtrack has been remastered with improved quality, mixing, and stronger emotional impact. Same essence, now more polished 🔥

The music is also now available on platforms like Spotify, YouTube, and more.

📌 Quick note: medieval mode has been disabled to streamline development.
