Building on the past, building on the future
I was thinking, why is it that GBD can establish a virtuous cycle of technical innovation and continuously improve teaching and practice, while all traditional Chinese arts, including martial arts, are heading towards a vicious circle? Is it because the inheritors of martial arts cannot keep up with the environment where economic interests are the priority, or is it because the recent brutal and even cultural decade-long catastrophe has destroyed the important lineage, books, and even the will of the inheritors? In fact, there is no practical meaning in seeking the cause by insisting on the fruit.
In fact, we did not have any role models and goals before, because even the taekwondo project, which entered the Olympic Games, was far less developed than the national standard dance, and we could find that taekwondo itself sacrificed a lot of philosophical connotations for the sake of Olympic competition results (probably because it has nothing too deep in itself). In contrast, although GBD is also full of groups, techniques and players are full of regional differences, but we can see the high degree of unity between its spirit and practice, not as unrealistic as Taijiquan's various "birds don't fly", "beating the bull across the mountain" this There is no unrealistic "the bird does not fly", "beating the bull from across the mountain", "winding silk strength", "shaking strength", which cannot even kill the chicken.
There are no martial arts associations that rely on the government and associations to promote the gymnastic "five methods and eight steps".
There are no fake masters who deceive the world and make martial arts routines look good but lose the soul of their movements, which is technical combat.
So we find that the same use of the human body, the same two sports approaching the limits of human beings: martial arts and dance, gradually evolved similar muscle application techniques, the primary is the chest with hands, cross with legs, regular practice of joints and ligaments can be stretched to near dislocation, bones can make the movement that ordinary people can not make.
In fact, as early as the Spring and Autumn Period, the Zuo Zhuan has recorded that "the great event of the state is in the rituals of the military", and the rituals are the process of uniting the spirits, usually with dance, while the military need martial arts. They are like Fuxi and Nuwa, brother and sister and husband and wife. Mutual intermingling gave rise to civilization.
Some people ask Shakyamuni Buddha what he taught in his 49 years of life, and what is it in a nutshell, "Karma"? This is only one of the thousands of answers.
Must the Buddha's teachings be found only in the Buddhist classics? Must the salvation of Jesus Christ be a prophecy in the Bible to be fulfilled in the world? Can we not approach the true God through meditation, except through prayer?
Similarly, must the power generation techniques of martial arts be found in the martial arts heritage? Organizational forms, evaluation systems, and training methods can all be taken from national standard dance.
Through my search for more than ten years, I have found that the only martial art that truly has the same profound ideological connotation as Confucianism, Buddhism and Taoism and that has withstood the test of practice is the "Tianjin Traditional Form of Yi Quan", an intangible cultural heritage of Tianjin. This system, which was handed down from Mr. Li Cunyi's disciple Han Ziheng to his grandson Han Wen, is already very vague and lacks the finishing touches of his descendants. But the good thing is that Mr. Han Wenwen has this art flowing through his body, which can be said to be a living fossil of martial arts.
The real development needs to simplify and find that one, not to make an already difficult to master system project more complicated through compilation, and we have a long way to go on this path
