🎭 CSIAF Arts Ambassador | Experience the Elegance of Chinese Opera with Gu Haohao

From timeless grace to innovative expression, Gu Haohao, President of Shanghai Kunqu Opera Troupe, invites you to immerse yourself in this autumn's grand opera feast!

This year's opera program is a true spectacle — rich, diverse, and full of artistic brilliance. Over ten opera genres unite to paint a vivid picture of Chinese stage art:
✨ “Star · Zaju” The Disguiser by Zhao's Art Productions — where tradition meets modern creativity.
✨ Medium-Length Pingtan Shanghai Wonton by Shanghai Pingtan Troupe — a lively taste of local storytelling.
✨ Qin Opera Modern Drama Tenacious Woman by Ningxia Performing Arts Group Qin Opera Theatre — a tribute to strong women of our times.

Among the highlights, Gu Haohao is most excited about the Opening Ceremony Performance-True Elegance of Supreme Harmony: The Kunqu Opera Classics from the Imperial Palace (Season One) by Shanghai Kunqu Opera Troupe in collaboration with The Palace Museum.

Ancient stories come alive under the stage lights — where flowing sleeves embody cultural heritage and the rhythm of drums awakens fresh creativity. Let the charm of Chinese opera enchant your autumn!

CSIAF is excited to share that Australian choreographer Lucy Guerin and percussive artist Matthias Schack-Arnott will bring their large-scale performance installation "Pendulum" to Asia for the first time! This art project is hosted by CSIAF's subsidiary art initiative ARTRA 2025 and will be performed three consecutive days from Nov.13 to Nov.15 in Shanghai.

"Pendulum" presents an artistic domain that integrates dance, sound and installation through 39 specially designed interactive pendulums. Each bronze pendulum contains a sensor, speaker and light source that translates the dancers' physical movements into real-time, multi-layered audio and visual feedback. The work reveals - between the tension of mechanical laws and the will of life - the fragility of human existence and resilience of the human spirit.

🎭 Live from the Stage | “Left Unsaid” — The Truth Game Begins

Step into the psychological maze of Left Unsaid — a Cantonese dark drama produced by Hong Kong Zuni Icosahedron. The play stars Hong Kong Film Awards Best Actress Cecilia Yip and acclaimed actor Kenny Wong.

The story follows a pair of neurologists trapped in a marriage of constant dialogue yet zero communication. As nine intertwined relationships slowly unravel, hidden cracks beneath the surface of family life are revealed. Through a unique blend of sound and visuals, the play builds a dreamlike labyrinth between memory and reality.

With its sharp Cantonese dialogue dissecting layers of illusion and remembrance, Left Unsaid invites audiences to join the ongoing “truth game” and explore the complexities of human nature.
