Finished the monograph—and went straight to the margins.

Yesterday, I drove out to Beibei, on the far edge of Chongqing, where new artist colonies are quietly taking shape inside old industrial shells. Met with He Gong in his vast new studio—raw, expansive, and alive with what’s next.

These works are already in motion: Venice Biennale, New York, and soon—Sophia Grace Gallery.

Opening June 6. Stay close.

The sheer numbers. This was such a beautiful opening ceremony, all the dancers and paraders and cheerers….. loved it. And caught some early morning rays.🌞

I’ve been stateside for almost long enough to get over jet lag. But I’ve still got so many images to share from my nine weeks there. I did a terrible job of keeping you all posted and I must make up for it.😘😂😇

I thoroughly enjoyed doing this Ekphrastic writing event held at the Unique Art Center in Chengdu China hosted by Sophia Grace Gallery, Igneus Press, and Yan Er Lu Arts International. Over 40 poets from the region, attended He Gong’s solo exhibition, and wrote poetry in response to the paintings.
