+3 gallery, a new independent art space in Caochangdi, first seeks to act as a channel for promoting Chinese photography, past and present, and keeping its doors open to the future of the medium. It aims to provide a professional model for promoting and guiding China’s homegrown artists, and offer opportunities to the public to better understand and recognize the excellent photography produ

ced in China. While its main focus is on Chinese photography, +3 gallery is also committed to showcasing outstanding photography from abroad. Through collaborations with international art spaces and fairs, +3 gallery is working towards expanding the audience for these photographs at home, while also increasing Chinese photography’s exposure in other regions of the world. The future of Chinese photography is bright, but more can be done to support its healthy development. The time is ripe for a space like +3 gallery, where appreciation for art photography and original prints stands at the fore. +3 gallery provides professional artwork and market management to both artists and collectors in its endeavor to strengthen Chinese photography overall.

OPENING THIS SATURDAY (6/23)

Aluss: Equine Sublime

4 pm - 6 pm at +3 gallery (in the same courtyard as Three Shadows Photography Art Centre in Caochangdi art district)

+3 gallery is proud to present the first solo exhibition of Aluss. His visions of the Mongolian grasslands present a poignant glimpse into the changes and corrosion of land and a ways of life.

Exhibition runs from June 23 to August 11, 2012.

(Opening followed by performance by artist Serge Onnen and musician Li Daiguo in the Three Shadows courtyard at 7:30 pm.)

You are cordially invited to Hisaji Hara's first solo exhibition in China, "Symphony of Time & Light." Come explore Hara's photographic reinterpretations of the works by 20th century painter Balthus, and the ways in which it challenges us to consider the borders between mediums, ages, cultures and technologies.
