Stanley Enow paved the way for artist-owned clothing brand in Cameroon’s Music Industry 🇨🇲
Long before music merchandise became a growing part of Cameroon’s entertainment industry, Stanley Enow was already showing artists that their music could extend beyond tv, radio and performances.
During the “Hien Pere” era, the King Kong introduced a strong merchandise culture through the iconic “On Est High Pere” T-shirts and other Motherland Empire accessories. It opened the doors for other artists to believe that they, too, could build a brand around their music and actually sell merchandise to their fans.
The “On Est High Pere” T-shirt was not just a street wear but also worn by many other celebrities, such as Nyanda(Brick&Lace), Iyanya etc. Motherland Empire had two dedicated websites serving local and international customers respectively.
The success demonstrated that Cameroonian artists could turn their identity, music and slogans into physical products and that there was a market willing to support them.
After witnessing the impact and commercial success of the movement, other artists and entertainers began capitalizing on the idea, launching their own branded clothing and merchandise.
Stanley Enow didn’t just make music. He helped create a blueprint for music merchandising in Cameroon. 🇨🇲👑
