Six months ago we did our karakia to Tāne for one of his Tamariki rākau Raintree,
one of the many big rākau Tāne within the beautiful Maire Nui Gardens.
We were told the tree needed to be rid of as there was too much shade covering the gardens.
The purpose this hardworking Va'ine Toa planted the trees 30 years ago was for 'Akatikitiki- to be carved.
The whole process from downing and finding a place to store the Rākau was a stressful experience and some lessons learned.
Now the time has come for us to Honor Rākau Tāne and the people involved who made and make this possible.
Look forward to seeing all the Taonga and creating come from this beautiful rākau, from various carvers and artists too.
We were all born to create, whatever that maybe is up to us. Forever grateful.

Kia orana Kotou Katoatoa!! We had an epic day exchanging vaerua and learning a bit more about Tangaroa, getting a feel for the chisels in hand and how to turn a block of Rakau into a creation of that representation of Tangaroa (Rarotonga). Meitaki ma'ata to Taryn and Moana for coming and learning and allowing space for me to teach. Look forward to seeing the final pieces!!!

We are going to be doing our second stage of business while we're both in NZ and start looking for carving mahi we can do while we are here...super excited about getting into it and can't wait to share with you all!

Were sending a big thankyou out to Bernies Mum Anne who helped with printing our pareu and had an awesome day of creating on the back deck! Even though the dyes stink and the weather wanted to play up - we got a new set of orders printed and ready to go!
