The Mexico Industry Academy will run from November 5 to 8, as part of the Festival Internacional de Cine UNAM. The Industry Academy by Locarno Pro is an intensive training programme that supports young film industry professionals and fosters connections across film markets worldwide.

“Blue Heron” by Sophy Romvari and “Balearic” by Ion de Sosa, both selected for Concorso Cineasti del Presente at Locarno78, continue to secure major distribution deals worldwide.

From the recent North American acquisition of “Balearic” to the expansion of “Blue Heron” into Japan and Finland, these films are successfully reaching global audiences.

“Olivia & Las Nubes”, directed and written by Tomás Pichardo Espaillat, won the award for Best Animated Film at the 2026 Platino Awards, making it the first Dominican production ever to receive one of the most prestigious honors in Ibero-American cinema in that category.

The film had its world premiere at Locarno77, where it also earned a Special Mention from the Junior Jury in the Concorso Cineasti del Presente section.

It’s time to bring a classic back to life! Together with Cinegrell (the film lab based in Zurich and Berlin) we're once again giving a heritage film the restoration it deserves.

The by Locarno Pro is now open: if you hold the rights to a feature films from around the world that premiered no later than 2010, this one's for you.

The winning project will be revealed at the Locarno Pro Award Ceremony on August 9, 2026, with the world premiere set for the Locarno Film Festival in August 2027.
