🔥 This gigantic solar flare is so enormous that you could fit dozens of Earths inside it… and still have space left over.
The loop you see here is made of superheated plasma, guided by the Sun’s magnetic field, rising thousands of kilometers above the solar surface before collapsing back down again. Some of these solar structures can stretch for more than 1 MILLION kilometers into space.
🌍 Earth’s diameter: ~12,742 km
☀️ This solar flare: hundreds of thousands of kilometers across.
To put that into perspective:
If our planet were placed inside this eruption, Earth would look like a tiny marble trapped inside a cosmic firestorm.
And the truly terrifying part?
Events like these can launch billions of tons of charged particles toward space at speeds exceeding several million km/h. If one powerful enough were directed at Earth, it could disrupt satellites, GPS systems, communications, and even entire power grids.
The Sun may look calm from 150 million kilometers away…
but in reality, it is an unimaginably violent star constantly reshaping the space around us.
📸 A reminder that our planet is far smaller — and far more fragile — than we usually dare to imagine.
