Publié en 1950, trois ans après la disparition de ce grand illustrateur et peintre français, ce livre n’est pas qu’une simple biographie. C’est un hommage intime et bouleversant, façonné par ses amis les plus proches. À l’intérieur, on retrouve des textes poignants de figures littéraires comme Pierre Mac Orlan et Roland Dorgelès, sublimés par des gravures originales de Gus Bofa et André Dunoyer de Segonzac.
