"What is Art" is proud to introduce our next talented artist Mycah Darlington . Using ink and paint Darling anachronism brings their thoughts and feelings to life for all of you to experience. To some art is easy to describe and simple while for others its much more so let's hear from this artist what art means to them.

"Art is the filter through which we grow a greater understanding of life. It pulls us together as we grow a greater understanding of ourselves, our world, and each other. Interpersonally, art exposes shared and opposing values, experiences, fights loneliness, and heralds awareness. From a larger social perspective, art is the light which exposes the range of standards and values our society holds, from beauty standards, to war and corruption which is why artists are both admired, abused, and persecuted. An artist can channel  the world, real and imagined, portraying the way it is and how they want it to be which is why, inherently, art is political."

"What is Art" is an interactive event featuring art from talented and unique local artists as well as interactive stations where you can try your hand at various art mediums and perhaps discover what art is to you.

You can find us November 14th, 11am-4pm at The Aviary

✨✨ Remember to look for the 2 squirrels, the fox, and the human skull. There are other hidden things as well, some intentional, and some your mind will show you all on its own. I hope you can take a moment to slow down and enjoy the small things.

Thank you so much to everyone who has shown up to the events, who has shared their time, heart, and energy to talk and sometimes even buy some of my art. It has been an incredible spring and summer, and with fall around the corner I just needed to slow down a little to express my gratitude. Thank you all so so much. 🖤🫂
