So sad that Godflesh is no longer performing live due to JKB’s health limitations and the brutality of the vocals. There are two more records to come before it all comes to an end. Godflesh means so much to me. That music inspires me, motivates me, and lives with me every day. Never in a million years did I think I’d see Godflesh in the flesh. I’ll never forget that trip or that show, it was loud, brutal and crushing, the most massive sound I’ve ever felt at a concert. No one can top it. The best part , I even got to talk to them for a few minutes. GODFLESH forever!

(I didn’t take many videos because I wanted to be fully present and enjoy every second of it.)

Mini-Review of the SATGM 30th Anniversary Show :

Watching the video, something felt off. A 30th-anniversary show should be special, seeing one member so out of it changed everything. You could feel the whole show start to crumble because of it, and I already knew what was going to happen, it’s just made the whole thing a bit sad to watch. The setlist was great though, pretty much all of my favorite tracks from the album. I’m just glad to see S***m back onstage with his son and to see Gahd Machine reformed.

Most of this generation knows S***m Gonzalez as a death metal legend. But beyond that, he’s been diving into experimental stuff that hardly anyone understands. There’s a haunting beauty in his side project that speaks to me more than his death metal output. He’s been my biggest influence.

I still remember 1998 - walking into his apartment, he was blasting Godflesh’s Selfless, and it totally changed my life, changed everything. Before that, he dropped the Gahd Machine record, which completely blew me away. At the same time, i was like, wth is this!!

SG wasn’t just making noise. He was breaking ground. A true innovator, ahead of his time.
