Solmyrkvi / Solar Eclipse in Iceland TODAY!
Iceland will experience a rare total solar eclipse in a few hours, the first total eclipse visible from Iceland since 1954. The eclipse will pass over western Iceland, including Reykjavík, with totality lasting just over a minute in the capital. Friends of LH can experience this incredible event because RUV will be broadcasting the eclipse live. Tune in and watch Iceland go dark as the Moon passes directly in front of the Sun.

🎉 Celebrate 140 Years of Lögberg-Heimskringla! 🇮🇸📰

For 140 years, Lögberg-Heimskringla has been telling the stories of our community, preserving our history, celebrating Icelandic culture, and helping connect generations across Canada, Iceland, and beyond.

Please join us for a special 140th Anniversary Celebration on Saturday, September 19, from 3:00–5:00 p.m. at the Scandinavian Cultural Centre, 764 Erin Street, Winnipeg.

🎬 As part of the afternoon, we’ll premiere a special 14-minute film exploring the remarkable history of Lögberg-Heimskringla and its enduring place in the Icelandic community.

Come enjoy light refreshments and dainties, visit with friends old and new, and help us honour the many writers, editors, volunteers, supporters, and readers who have kept the paper going since 1886.
