Fringe festivals are bold, grassroots celebrations of live performance—where theatre, comedy, dance, music, and experiments of every kind collide on stage. The Yukon Fringe Festival launches in October 2026 as the territory’s newest celebration of live, independent performance. Inspired by fringe festivals worldwide, our festival is a space where theatre, comedy, dance, music, puppetry, spoken word, clown, and wild experiments all share the stage. Performances are selected by lottery, ensuring a lineup that’s raw, bold, and brimming with surprises. Join us as we bring the adventurous spirit of fringe to Whitehorse and the Yukon. Honouring the original and current stewards of this land, the Kwanlin Dün First Nation and the Ta'an Kwach'an Council.

Fringe friends! Could YOU be the next AD of Gwaandak Theatre? Or perhaps you know just the right person to tap? Help our Gwaandak friends spread the word!

Are you interested in guiding the future of Gwaandak Theatre’s artistic programming? We are seeking a new Artistic Director to lead us into the 2027/28 season and beyond!

We are hoping to have the incoming Artistic Director work alongside the current AD for the 2026/27 Season and be part of the Season’s 2027 Awaken Festival and 2027 Indigenous Summer Play Readings.

Application Deadline *Extended*: October 1st, 2026

Start Date: January 10th, 2027

Contract Term: January 10th 2027-June 30th 2027 (24 weeks) with option to renew on a permanent or multi-year contract starting July 1st, 2027

Place of Work: Whitehorse, Yukon Territory

Rate/Hours: $31.22 per hour (current Yukon living wage) / 30 hours per week

Benefits:
-Health benefits with dental
-2 Weeks Vacation (up to 4 weeks per year upon contract renewal)
-2% Cost of Living Adjustment (COLA) per year upon contract renewal

The Yukon Fringe is excited to share about a special ONLINE performance hosted by our sister festival, Found Festival, in Edmonton!

The show, 805-4821, is performed LIVE on google docs, right before your eyes! Anyone, ANYWHERE, with a laptop or desktop and an internet connection can watch.

"805-4821 is a trans coming out story made out of other stories: a dialogue from Shakespeare’s Hamlet, a half-remembered swim lesson, and an 80,000-word Facebook correspondence. 805-4821 explores memory, identity, and love in an age of apocalypse. Not all men are men. Welcome to the movies!"
