Yesterday, May 12th, was the acquisition date of The Adventurous Snowshoe.
It's so surreal to be included in something like this.
I appreciate and I am humbled of all the comments that the board of Friends of The Yukon Permanent Art Collection had on my art work. I always strive for clean lines amongst other things, and yesterday, those were all mentioned. By the end of it, my ears were super warm and I broke down in tears. Tears of joy and disbelief that this window opened for me.

Artist's statement for this piece:

The idea of The Adventurous snowshoe developed in May 2025. I was trying to imagine that Spring is just around the corner when everything looks lush and green, and wild flowers are flooding the side of the road, leading to endless
adventures. The piece represents the brave hearts of many Northerners who seek solitude and peace in the beautiful land we call home
The flowers are based on my childhood memories; days that spent under the guava tree, enjoying the breeze carried by the bamboo grove nearby, playing house by the hibiscus bush and making flower necklaces by the Jasmin bush at my grandmother's garden.
The shape and colours of the flowers are based on how l drew flowers as a child. With a pencil on hand, I stil nstinctively draw the typical circle in the middle, connected by four to five round petals around; but with glass, I can play with the texture and endless shapes more comfortably, knowing that it willook like a flower no matter how elaborate or simple they may be.
