What is the most rewarding part of being a mom?
Learning a whole new world of autism and how social norms do NOT define us! My life is at peace knowing my sons happiness is pure, and he is supported in every ability he has. There are no limits.
What is the biggest lesson motherhood has taught you?
No two people are alike, and if you meet one person with autism, you've met only one person with autism. Our sensory differences, social skills, life skills can range astronomically. But most importantly, children that don't have the ability to cope with life can benefit from a coregulator to share our calms and our storms.
What would you do with $20,000?
I would honestly use the money to make my son his own safe space in our home. I paint murals for sensory rooms and to give him a place where he can recharge after a long day would be life changing for us.
If you could spare a moment to continue voting for me and my family π in a few months, we will no longer be eligible for OHIP-covered autism therapy, and we remain three years away from receiving government funding. I am not comfortable putting myself in the spotlight, but for the potential benefits it could bring to my son, I am willing to step out of my comfort zone and throw myself to the social media wolves π
